Santa Clause

The trouble with Thanksgiving is by Christmas I look like my avatar. Not that it's a bad thing but turns into much work to get back to normal by spring. Speaking of normal, I saw a very large and pretty Christmas tree in Miss Sandra's neighbor's yard. It was about 20 ft. tall a beautifully lighted. It stands alone so that everyone from the hiway can see it. Very nice! I love traveling during the holidays.

Welcome back, Bill.  Was your Thanksgiving as good as you were expecting?  I don't suppose your van down by the river has a chimney for Santa to slide on down and leave you any gifts.  Do you have a work-around?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

It's OK as long as Santa isn't aiming at Bill!

I usually receive a lump of coal, but every year it gets a little nicer.  Some day, I'll have enough to fill the BBQ.

Welcome back among the living, Bill!

    Speaking of Normal vs Christmas...

My wife had a deal on big black christmas tree in October, so she ordered it. It arrived on our doorstep on November 4th IIRC.

So we immediately unpacked it and put it together in the living room w/o ever thinking whether it may or may not be too early. It seemed perfectly normal to us. I mean, what else do you do with a Christmas tree?

The crappy pic doesn't really do it justice, but anyway...

Our friends seemed to think it was relatively strange, but what the heck...

In the end - is that really weirder than Christmas light around a palm tree or Santa's sleigh on green grass?

I listen to Elvis' Christmas record all the time, anyway...

Did I mention it was black?

So your wife's either very short, the tree's very tall or both, eh?

That looks like a really nice room!

Knowing your penchant for black, the tree isn't that surprising that you'd get one.  What is a little surprising is that someone sells one.  Is it from the Black Forest in Germany?

Wow, nice digs man. More space in that room than my entire apartment. What do the cats do with a tree like that? Mine would have it on the ground by now.

I was thinking it was weirder that your wife lets you sit around and take pictures while she's up on a ladder working on the tree.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

For some reason I don't think she's afraid of heights.

    Good catch! :)

We put it up together - I was just getting back from the other room putting on some music. But I often leave the ladder stuff to her.

The two baby cats are really doing a number on it. Especially Syd, the youngest one we've just adopted a few weeks ago. There are fake needles on the floor everywhere in the house, even upstairs... He likes to climb in it and play hide and seek with his sister. Or then just to throw decorations on the ground.

We love this house. And we appreciate it even more after those 2 years living in hotel rooms and small suites, and more particularly after the few months we spent in that dark and ugly little apartment when we arrived in Vegas. Moving up here, further away from the strip and to a much nicer part of the city and into this house really changed everything. That's when we started liking Vegas.

BTW, I've always loved putting up Christmas trees w/ themes. The year Star Wars episode III came out, we had an awesome Sith-mas tree, with dead stars, TIE fighters, light sabres and The Emperor on the top of the tree. We also had a Nightmare before Christmas one, which was pretty cool.

So this years, since we'd opted for a more traditional tree downstairs, I put on a little KISSmas tree in my studio.

Black really makes a room look smaller, but too much red can make you irritated...  Oh well!

I've always had at least one red wall in my "home studios" - it's a colour I live well with. With the eggshell carpet and ceiling, I think the red and black thing will make this place totally feel like home.

I've been reorganizing the workplace again tonight and added a bit of red - in the form of an old Alice Cooper concert poster... Not on the back wall though. I need that blank space in front of me.
