Sata expansion PCI card recommendations

I need to buy one for more hard drives.  Does anyone have experience with these? Are they all the same?  Im curious if the transfer rate will be just as fast as the standard onboard SATA inputs.  If not I will plug my DVD drive into the expansion card and keep my sample drives plugged into the factory SATA inputs.

    Hi Mike,

I added a Marvel 91xx series SATA-III PCIe controller to my video editing machine.
    Works great...

Thanks Jim.  Are there any compatability issues with MB's?  Or are they all pretty much standard?

A compatibility issue would be extremely rare...

My video editing machine is using one of the original P67 motherboards (prior to the B3 revision).
The way to circumvent the potential problem is to use SATA-III controllers (issue was SATA-II specific).
That motherboard is still working fine...

I don't have any recent experience, but I did use an ATA (pre-SATA) interface PCI card a few years ago.  It didn't work very well with CD-ROM drives (problems with autoplay and eject) or a Zip Drive, but it worked perfectly fine with IDE hard disk drives.  It also had RAID capabilities but I didn't make use of that.
