Save As renaming plugins or effects in Sonar 8.5

Hello all, New to this site and need some much needed help. I'm running windows 7 Sonar 8.5. In Sonar 8 I had the option of save or save as when I used my plugins or effects. I want to make changes to get my sound when recording acoustic drums and not effect the original plugin or effect. I find 8.5 only gives me (Overwrite) effect not (save as). This was very simple in Sonar 8 for me to do. My goal is to get my sound, rename that effect or plugin so each time I record I simply look that name up and click okay.Has anyone found a work around? Thank you

I found it kinda hard to understand but I think you mean plugin presets? Nothing has changed, just type a name in and click the save button at the top of the plugin.

You do realise that whatever plugs are in your Fx chain will NOT affect whatever you're recording yes?

Sonar will only ever record your dry sound, right out of the interface. Everything else is after that.

If you want to record WITH effects, you need hardware.

Okay I think I have it now? Audio FX Percussion Strip Bright Airy Kick , Dial in my settings VST - Save as Rename So each time I want that VST I need to load instead of how 8 did it which would show up in the menu. What I was doing before in 8.5 and did it only once was. Click to Save - Overwrite existing preset - Yes or No. Thanks for the help.

    1. Yes. 2. Correct. 3. I worded my question wrong from the start. VST's is what I was talking about. Thanks for the help.

Or you could save the entire thing as a template

A friend of mine set the mics I use to record as a template. I use M Audio Delta 1010 for my interface. I record dry add the VST's after. Next up will be to figure out how to record in Midi with my Roland TD9.2's. I do have one more question maybe I should make this a new post? But since I upgraded from 8 to 8.5. I noticed some chatter or static, probably the wrong term? In my kick drum mic level only. It is not a condenser just my two over heads are. I have changed mic cables twice with 2 brand new one's (same results). As it is in the mix with everything(drums only) and with my added effects you really can't hear it. Only when that track is isolated and without those VST's on can you hear it and its just barely noticeable. If I add Bass or Guitar you can't hear it at all. I guess it's one of those things that I know is there and bugs me. When I go to record I can see that track's mic's level moving before I play. It appears to not be room noise as the overhead condenser mic levels are silent until I start to play. Other than that everything works okay(except when the pc decides to not be my friend)? Thanks again.
