Save instrument definitions to move to new computer?

I got a new computer and want to transfer several ".ins" files from the old to the new but I can't figure it out. Does anyone know how to copy the custom .ins files? There seems to be a way to import them but I need to save them first. The manual doesn't say much about saving your custom made .ins files and I haven't found any posts detailing how to save them nor can I find them in My Computer. FYI - I'm using Sonar 8.5.

Most everything in Windows can be copied from one place to another using the "copy" function. Depending on OS it is part of Windows explorer.
First find the files. They will be somewhere in the Cakewalk folder.
Most times using the search feature will find them.
Plug in an external Hard drive or a USB drive and direct the copy to that drive.
You can also drag and drop between drives, it will copy the file and not move it.

Have you created custom instruments which now appear in the Assign Instruments 'tree' and you want to know how to move these? If so, you need to export them first (as I think you've already figured). To do this, right-click each custom instrument in turn and select Export, then choose a location (which could be a USB stick for example).
On your new machine, open the Assign Instruments dialog, select Define and then Import, browsing for the file you created earlier. You will probably need to assign the imported instrument to the correct output/channel, then you're done.

    Hope this helps.

OK thanx for pointing out (for my old eyes) the "Export" at the very bottom of the rt click tree under "Instruments" in the "Define Instruments and Names" window (I had been rt clicking the Patch names which doesn't offer an export option).  Thanx for the help - you just saved me lots of time re-entering all those patch names.
