Saved Me
Here is another Christian Rock song that I have just finished writing, tracking and mixing. I have had this tune around for a LONG time and could never get around to actually putting some lyrics to it. I finally just forced myself to put something on paper. I think this mix is pretty close, but let me know if you think something needs tweaking. The song is the second one from the top; thanks for listening. Saved Me: https://soundcloud.com/michaeljhanson

Cool... it has a Beatles kind of thing going on there.... reminds me of the groove in Taxman.

Ya.... it kind of has that Taxman groove to the song. That's part of the reason I was reluctant to finish the song, I think. I was playing around with it a couple of months ago, right before I went to Vegas on business for 3 weeks in May. I finally decided to see if I could make the groove and the song, enough of my own (so to speak) that one might be able to forget about any resemblance to Taxman. I am hoping that when the lyrics kick in, the focus goes back onto my song. I had to look up Taxman at one point and make sure that I had not completely reproduced the notes and the chords without realizing that I did. It is different, just has that same groove. Hey, at least I have temporarily escaped my "Petty" resemblances.

Rock on brother. Sounds great. I've got a few Christian rock songs on this forum too. Check them out if you get a chance. Again, great song.

I listened, but I listened to Invisible too, and I liked it better. Good job on both, nice performance, recording/mix. I liked Invisible better because I thought the acoustic guitars L & R were nice, and fit nicely with the electric up the pipe. I'm going to give this technique a try.

Lead foot,
Thanks for listening Bro. I gave some of your tunes a listen on SC and they are well done, nice work.
Robbie,
Invisible has been my favorite song that I have written to date, things just came together nicely on that song.
Dan,
Thanks for listening as well. I am pretty happy with the way this song has turned out as well. Hopefully it all works.

Grabs you right away. Love the riff and the vocal fits real well with it. seems like everything is over compressed though. I listened to invisible also. Same compression only more so.

Jackle, Thanks for listening. Invisible is mixed and mastered by Dude Ivy. I gave him the raw tracks to mix from, so if they came out the same I guess we had the same taste.

John, thanks for listening man. Yes, I'm making a lot of effort these days to get my initial tracks clear and clean. I keep tracking until I have a copy that I like.

Hi Mike, Nice in your face guitars and vocal. Nice playing. I like the dry lead voc. I would tweek the snare to get a little more presence like the guitars. Toms sound good. Bass and kick are nice. Cool lead. Rimshot

Hey Rimshot,
I listened again and I agree with you on e snare, good catch. I think it needs just a little more punch.

Very nice job man!! I really like the sound of your snare. thick and hits you in the chest.. I tiny bit of gloss would maybe sound a bit better for me though. Very nice song and guitar riffs!!! Just at the bass to me it sounds a bit muddy, if you tried cutting some frequencies around 200 -400.. just 2 or 3 db. It could clear a bit.. but thats my opinion though! VERY GOOD IN GENERAL!

Mike, you nailed this one. I like your voice and guitar very much on this. You're amassing quite a collection of songs and growing with each one.

Bapu, thanks for listening.
Elias, I will check out those areas and see if I can improve the mix. Glad you liked the tune. The drums are SSD4, I've been very happy with Slates drums.
Lynn, thanks for listening. Yes, some of these tunes are starting to come together. I have a few more that I am about to start on as well.
Kenny, you may have just given me my best complement ever. It's been a few years since I have played in an actual band. My goal as a solo artist is to achieve that band like sound; the gel and tight groove that comes from a band playing as a unit. If I am achieving that, well thats made my day.

I listened to this much earlier and thoroughly enjoyed it... I thought I had commented at the time, but I guess my comments didn't take... sorry for that...
