Saving as bun file

I am using a separate hard drive to record my audio. When saving the project as a .bun file, I assume I save it on that same drive, correct? Just want to make sure.

It does not matter where bundles are saved. The reason for using a second driver for project is performance. Bundles are an archiving strategy, performance is not an issue. Bundles have mostly been rendered redundant when per-project folders were introduced years ago. You may find it just as easy to archive per-project folders without bundling.

There are many threads exclaiming issues when opening BUN. files. They were as Steve say's from a past era and no longer the best method.

The common way to keep things safe is to perform a "save as" and make sure to check the box that say's copy audio. Direct this to any drive you wish and save as the "normal" which is the CWP. extension.

Sonars default puts all your audio in a global audio folder. It is best to use the per project and then the audio will be in the folder with the CWP.
I keep at least 3 copies of my Sonar files.
Main computer has 2 drives and a external drive.
Main drive is partitioned and partition is used for main storage of files.
I then do the "save as" to the back up drives after a day's work. This only takes a minute.

I use a few templates. The minute you hit record, Sonar will put the new audio in the file it was directed to. This is where I think people loose track of things.
So open the Template and immediately, before you do any recording, perform  a "save as"
This will open the directory where the template is stored.
Browse back to your main folder ( for me this is one level)
Make a new folder and name.
Open the folder and re-name the song ( project)) as "normal". And save it.
Make sure the "copy audio" and you have the per project option checked.
Now the audio for that project will be recorded into an audio folder inside that folder.
I can now do the "save as" to the back up drive or drag and drop those folders to a second drive. I use 2 computers sometimes and have never had any problems with my CWP files transferring. Only issue is when I had 2 interfaces and Sonar gets mad.

Thanks Scook and Cactus Music. Really appreciate that info Cactus! I figured the .bun stuff was outdated by now. To be honest, I am getting ready to FINALLY venture into the Sonar world. I'm still using Pro Audio 9 believe it or not! lol!  Hey, it has done what I've needed it to do up till now. I mainly do my own thing along with other friends at times so not a full studio by any means. I have upgraded to some nice stuff though and anxious to get Sonar in there and working. Thanks again!
