Saving/Exporting

Sorry if this has been asked before.....

My band recorded a bunch of songs last night, then I spent hours, editing and mixing.  I saved the files as .wav's.

Here's the problem.  When I try to export the files I can only find each individual track, rather than the whold song.  I've been able to export other songs before but can't this time.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Keith

I'm a little confused. If you saved the song it must have been as a cwp (project file) or a cwb (bundle file). To 'save' as wave files you use the export option.

There you can choose individual tracks, a full mix, stems etc. If that was the only method you used you haven't saved the edits but printed them to a wave file. There are several presets already in the export dialogue but it's not hard to set up your own if none suit.

You're right.  They were saved as .cwb and I'm trying to export them as .wav.

The other tracks I've exported I've been able to select the whole song to export rather than just individual tracks.  I just don't understand why I can't do that this time.

CWB is a bundle file for Sonar. Its a compressed file with all the audio and CWP files included in one big file. You need to open the bundle file using X1 to use it.

The easiest way is to press Ctrl+Shift+A. That deselects everything and for export purposes has exactly the same effect as selecting all.

Sonar will only ever export what is selected so if you have a section of time selected that's what gets exported. The "deselect all" stops that from happening.

Try the "What you hear" preset, that's a good starting point.

Start by checking for mutes and solo set somewhere, perhaps a buss? Do you hear the project on playback.

After you make sure nothing is Muted or Solo'd, try in Track View, Zoom way out to where everything is in view and Lasso all track waves. Then try your normal export and see what ya get. Your doing right with your WAVE export-watch where and how its saved and titled.

OK, nothing muted, nothing solo'd.  I hear the project on playback.

If you can hear the project on playback. Press Ctrl+Shift+A then select File->Export->Audio, then in the export dialogue box select "What you hear" from the presets and save the wave file that should result in a stereo wave file of the whole song.

What happens when you do that, does it appear to mix down? There should be a progress bar in the transport window.
