Leo Sayer lost any credibility for me when he had a hissy fit and walked out of the celebrity big brother house because his demands for fresh underwear were refused and he was told to wash his own dirty ones. He's calling McCartney embarrasing? Macca was there, rightly as a National icon, a worthy representative of Great Britain's culture, not as the performer he once was. Do we mock the Chelsea pensioners because they are crap fighters these days? Leo's finest moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKlIS2jf87g

Hi, Honestly ... I am not into star bashing, but in many ways, while Paul is good, he has lost a lot of his ability and is just cruising on his fame. His "talent" is long gone, and his artistry is the same onld rehash now. I do get tired of some of these people being shown in TV because they are a star ... and again, while Paul should/could/would be appreciated, the fact of the matter is that many others do not get the chance ... and they deserve it, much better than Paul these days. As I stated before, if you or I had a band and we did any of the songs in the last Rolling Stones album, we would be getting boo'd and be told to go back to the garage ... but because it is the Rolling Stones, it is acceptable ... by somebody ... which tells you that it is just a commercial ploy to get some sales done to make money. Sorry ... I've been off the kis$thata$h mode a long time ago, and seriously ... Paul has already had his 15 minutes! And the CHB deserve theirs much more now ... for effort alone!

Chaos Choir Most of these 'older' acts are still around touring and recording to most likely pay for their grandkids orthodontist bills or to build additions to their already huge mansions. Ya, I'm pretty sure ** it has nothing to do with the fact that music is their first true love. ** You know, like 0.0142768930% sure.

OK, here's my theory. Paul is in a cover/tribute band doing Macca/Wings and Beatles. When we're crazy drunk/high/escaping life in whatever fashion and we hear a song we love being covered (in any condition), we hear the original in our head, not the cover being presented. Especially if we sing along loud enough to drown out what we are hearing. The complainers were just not singing loud enough.

I don't know Sir McCartneys' reasons for anything but I sure know how much his music has meant to me in my life. I don't like to hear people speak ill of him...not one bit and don't care who they are. I surely believe they'd be better off not saying anything if they didn't have something good to say about him. I think the same caliber of people that would are the same type that have made bad remarks about one of the olympian gymnasts hair....pathetic and glad I don't personally know the fools.

Come on Ed...you know I meant personal attacks or rude comments. I find it very hurtful for one to be bashing him about his performance due to ageing. Surely he has earned enough respect to doing what makes him feel good. Hell he could sing in a completely different key and I would enjoy seeing him having a good time while he still can. I know you agree too my friend. Poking fun is good stuff.

Chaos Choir some of these musicians should, at the very least, be aware that they (some) have truly lost their luster and should just call it quits. Why do you think they should just call it quits?

I'm an admirer of Macca, but being honest: Who can say the performance wasn't embarrassing? The embarrassement was enhanced by the the very unbritish accident, the failure in the sound system/mixing. All Maccas big hits are incredibly demanding for the singer, and his voice just doesn't do anymore. He should be more selective and simply drop the tough ones from his set list. Roger Daltrey is very much in the same situation. It's too painful to listen to ones idol and having to imagine how it should sound. That's why I don't even consider going to the concerts of my biiig favourite Jethro Tull anymore. Icons, yes, but to remain an icon and avoid becoming a target of "understanding" nods requires a timely retirement or a change of style. The artist needs to be able to change with his increasing limitations. That way he maintains dignity and true appreciation.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I remember seeing Chet Atkins not long before his passing... It was very easy to see (and hear) the effects of age. I could see in his eyes the effect it had when a lick wasn't to his past abilities but he was still having a great time. Even though his playing wasn't what it once was and he and all there knew it...I was so very glad to hear him and see him doing what he loved and having a great time. It wasn't about me and what I expected from him... I thought it was so cool because his fans were there supporting him -as I was in my easy chair.....to the end.

I wonder if we could consider that they may keep on performing for the sake of their fans? Considering how long Paul may have been waiting to go on, what conditions the monitor mix was in at the moment and various other things that may have been going on, I'd say he recovered well and most of his bit was quite enjoyable. I saw him when he turned 60 and he sang for a long time and didn't miss a lick. Hearing the songs that I listened to as a kid brought me to a special place that evening.
