Science of Elements(Employable) in Music Production

hi everyone.

i've done a great deal of searching but can't seem to find it - maybe it doesn't exist - but i'm wondering if anyone is aware of a book, tangible or ebook, that breaks down the elements employable in music production(at least for contemporary instruments) categorically by instrument.  the book would contain contemporary instruments such as synthesizer, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, etc.  more the better.    had it contained even classical instruments, that would be excellent.

for example, if the book was referencing synthesizer, it would have pads, leads, etc...  if i were looking up acoustic guitar, it would contain rhythm broken down into strumming and what have you....   discussing plucking techniques.

music production, being inherently creative in nature, is always evolving.  however, certain techniques have become institutionalized to a certain extent.  i'm not referring to music theory; i'm merely focused on instrument techniques.

the book doesn't have to be detailed handbook on how to master each instrument discussed; instrument and employable techniques and brief description of what that technique is is adequate.

if such a book exists, i would be a very happy man.  otherwise, i guess i'll end up making my own science of music elements / techniques manual for contemporary instruments, with information taken from books for each instrument.

btw, i'm looking for a similar book in art / design.  a book that breaks down elements employable in design down to a science would be awesome.

thanks a million
