Score- Cakewalk: 2, Presonus and Celemony: 0

I've been pleasantly surprised that Melodyne Editor 1.3.0 works fine with X2, exhibiting none of the memory leak behavior it has in X1 and in other DAWs. This is a known problem for Celemony, and they fixed it in version 2, but that's a paid upgrade. Cakewalk appears to have fixed a problem with Celemony's software in the process of refining X2 for release, as it now works.

Then, I tried hooking up my PreSonus FaderPort, which has always been problematic in Sonar and required me to prettymuch hack their driver install to get it to work on Windows 7 x64, even though this is a supported configuration. (I like a fair amount of PreSonus gear, but conspicuously the list of likes contains only gear that doesn't require drivers, like their Digimax line, and a majority of my dislike list is gear that does require drivers.) I've had trouble getting the FaderPort to work well with every computer and DAW I've tried (Mac and PC.) It never just worked without lots of fiddling. Now, after a brief driver install and a few configurations from the manual it works great in X2.

So Cakewalk made products with known bugs work better just by the work they did to refine X2.

Bravo, Bakers!
