Scosche auto HD Speakers....

I found an old set of Ampex bookshelf speakers at the thrift store for $10. They worked for a while but developed a crackling sound so I figured the speakers were blown, so I decided to replace the speakers and keep the cabinets. My budget is limited so I couldn't spend too much, so I checked Walmart and they had a pair of Scosche 6.5" three-way High Definition car speakers for $29 bucks. I figured what the heck let's try 'em. So I installed them into the old Ampex cabinets and trashed the old speakers. I demo'ed it and couldn't believe how great they sound !! Lot's of nice clear bass, great mids, and crystal clear highs. At a medium volume I could feel my desk vibrate a little !! The frequency response is rated at 30HZ-20KHZ. These blow the old speakers away !! They have the low end that my NS-10's lack.

I know they are not professional reference monitors, but they sound great !! My total investment is $39.99 and I have a set of great sounding monitors. Yes I will be using them in my studio !!!

I doubt that they are flat but they sound great and mimic what you'd actually hear in a car. So now I don't have to take my mixes out to the car to see what they sound like there. So in a way they are a reference speaker. I like 'em a lot !! They sound waaay better than the 30 year old speakers did, and that's the key for me, I want the music being played in my studio to sound as good as I can get. For the money, I can't beat 'em.
