A Scotswoman came home from work smiling from ear to ear.

Her husband asked, "Why are you looking so fecking pleased with yourself?"

"Well, I jogged home behind a bus and saved myself the 60p fare", she said.

"You dim twat", the husband replied, "Next time jog behind a fecking taxi, that way you can save a tenner."

The UK Government has said that Scotland could end up as a Third World country if they vote for independence...

I don't know if things will improve to that extent, but you never know.

Well I've just posted that one on Facebook. I have a few Scottish friends who have been posting pro-independence propaganda almost non-stop for the last few weeks and I'm sick of seeing it. Let's see how many of them have a sense of humor.

So, today is the day that Scotland decides.  Well I say Scotland but I think it's safe to say that, as with most western voting systems, the outcome has been decided before the vote ever begins

Good luck to those who choose to vote

There are a few candidates from Islay I might choose to vote for tonight.

Never ice - neat with a few drops of water.

Always on the lookout for a bargain, they got a good deal on some used voting machines. Unfortunately, the machines came from Florida, and after tallying the votes, George W Bush is now president of Scotland.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Latest exit poll on Newsnight suggests No=54%; Yes=46%.

Mind you, the chap who organised the poll mentioned the massive turnout (96%) coupled to the lack of a precedent might mean those predictions might not be that accurate.

I wonder what difference it would have made if the vote had been open just to Scottish people, rather than to those who happen to be living there at the moment. I'd suggest that would have been a much better option for the 'Yes' campaign.

I don't know for sure, but I'd have thought that actually being born in Scotland would be the deciding factor.

To have foreign nationals effectively being a part of the process of deciding whether the 'region' of your birth becomes an independent country or not seems a little counterintuitive to me.

I suppose the question is moot really, and probably why people living there became the criteria. Thinking about it, there isn't really such a thing as a "Scottish" citizen, as people born anywhere in the UK are officially classified as British. If by some chance the "Yes" campaign has won, I suppose the question of who is and who isn't a Scottish citizen would have to be addressed.

I may be wrong, but I'd have thought that British citizens who continue to live in an independent Scotland would remain British.

James will know the answers to these important questions.
