Scratcher Percussion Instrument in X3

I'm new to Sonar X3 and only have the plugins that came with it.  I'm looking for a scratcher among the drums an percussion instruments, but haven't found anything.  Can someone direct me to one or recommend a plugin that would have it?  Thanks.

I am into exotic but real percussion samples.  Please describe what you mean by a scratcher?  I know of a few percussion instruments that can make a scratching sound? Perhaps I can help you.

    Thanks,

I think he means something like this (sadly 32 bit) plugin:

Sure, showing my age, I forgot that DJs just don't play records but have become part of the performance.

I thought the OP was talking about a KABASA or Ratchet... not a turntable. :-)

Don't feel too bad.  I thought he meant a kielbasa too.  :)

You could try something like this: http://www.z3-audiolabs.com/scratch_it_free/

There may be other free ones but that was the first one I found. If you're prepared to shell out some $$'s then there is always MRhythmizer which can do slowdown and scratching effects, but good luck reading the manual because it's atrocious (after over a year of owning it I still have little idea of how it's supposed to work).

For $79 there is Deckadance which sounds like it would meet all of your needs (looks like a lot of fun actually): http://www.image-line.com/deckadance/

I had the name wrong.  What I'm looking for is a guiro.  Sorry for not being more descriptive.  For those who said things like kielbasa, you were on the right track.  I'm not making electronic music.

    Well that's a cool instrument.

If you go to Google.com, and simply enter guiro as a search term then click on the tab labelled 'Shopping', Google will return search results of all kinds of places where you can buy one of those online, or possibly at a local music store.

I saw many style variations, ranging from around $15 up to about $50 usd.

Thanks robert_e_bone.  I did see those, but I was wanting to know if there's a patch for it.

I found what looks to be a nice instrument made for Kontakt 3.5 and higher for the guiro:

    ($12) http://www.audiority.com/shop/epic-pig-guiro/

They have several sample sound files you can play to hear the different kinds of sounds theirs can generate.

Here is a free one: http://marvinpavilion.ojaru.jp/file/vst/retromine_v01.zip
Please note that the free one seems to have a newer version, but it looks like the guiro is dropped from the newer version, so I pasted in the link to the older one that DOES seem to have the guiro.

Here is the link to the page with their freeware with both versions, and some other stuff:

    And:

The above seem to be samples that you would need to map into an instrument.

And the Garriton Pocket Orchestra seems to have a guiro in its libraries, though I am not sure what version of this has it.

Here is something that might be quite useful:

    http://computermusicresource.com/GM.Percussion.KeyMap.html

Apparently, the General MIDI spec for percussion includes a short and a long guiro sound.  That will certainly not compare with an entire instrument of guiro sounds and articulations, but it DOES mean that any instrument with a GM drum mapping should have at least some kind of approximation for those 2 sounds.  So, check out TTS-1, and maybe even Session Drummer, etc.
