Scrolling tab (along bottom) is suddenly super quick??

When I try to slide it across using the mouse it is supper quick, like if I move it say a cm, it skips across bars like it's jumping 4 at a time. Bar spacing along the top is pretty much normal with bars spaced at about 1-2cm per bar.
 
any ideas?
