Season of the Long Shadows

I listened to 3dmus' song called "Bring Back the Summer".  That is a great song and apparently we share the same distain for the winter season.  I went back in my old files and found this number that deals with this very same subject.  It is a bit rough as it was done before I joined up with the forum and before the education that I have received here.  I also had to import it from my Guitar Tracks recordings.  So, it is a bit rough (e.g., the vocals crackle a bit in places).  It is a bit of a long song also but I had to get out a lot of verbiage about my dislike of this season and my guitar had similar things to say.

As it is a bit rough any crit's., comments, suggestions, feedback, or recipes (what?) would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's my favorite season... Are the guitars all in tune?

I like the song. It's the season of the witch...

Did you do that volume effect with your pinky finger? Or a foot pedal? Or with a VST?

Freddy J, probably just me but the cymbal on the right distracted me
from hearing the tune. I'd try a ride...and sparingly. Hope it's a good suggestion.

Not bad at all on my end. That was quite some preset setting your using on the guitar Freddy. Sounded like some kind of synth setting, but fits the song fine. A nicely executed song that rings nice and clear. The harmonies sound good on the vocals. Then only thing I would do to this is bring it through some EQ at about 768-779  with a bit of limiting or gating and see if that clears the mix up a bit. Nice song!

Hi Robby.  The guitars probably are not in tune.  If I remember correctly I used my old ~1967 Norma (I luv that guitar) and it has a tendency to go out of tune very easily.  Of course, I was just starting out trying to record when I did this number and in my ignorance I did not appreciate the efficacy of a well tuned guitar?!   ;>)  Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Spacey. Thanks for your suggestion --- it was a good one.  I appreciate your feedback!!

Hello John.  I really appreciate your comments and suggestions.  I particularly appreciate your comment about the song itself.  I think that I'm OK with the song but my major concern is about the recording errors.  I know I have  work to do on that --- so, you suggestions were very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Frank.  Thanks for your encouragement.  I am considering that I need to go back and re-record some of the tracks before I consider the re-do of this number done.  I am guessing but they probably were recorded too hot.  Unfortunately, that won't be until after the new year (my life is not supposed to be this busy in retirement).  Thanks again Frank!
