Second attempt with GTP3

Well, I think I'm begining to catch on to how GTP3 works. The more I use it, the better I like it for guitar stuff. Its alot easier to deal with than Sonar 4 if you only want audio. Anyway, here is a rough mix of my second attempt. The end of the tune is missing, but for now I just used the beginniing. Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds pretty good LouTheBlueGuru. Those are loop drums yeah? How do you record your guitar into GTP3? Do you mic up an amp or do you go straight in? What sound card do you use?

    Hi montezuma:

The drums are loops. I am really bad at drums, so my drums are boring as usual. I recorded the rythm track with an Ibanez Jem through a V-Amp 2 clean and the heavier parts through a V-Amp 2 modern high gain with a Wolf Deluxe LP copy (I never play my 79 LP custom anymore). I can and do sometimes mike up my amps, but I have not tried this with GTP3 yet. This machine is running an M-Audio Delta 410. I have two other machines for music production. One runs an Emu 0404 with Protius X and Sonar 4 studio and the second runs an SW1000XG with XGWorks 3.0. These are great machines and software when I want to use MIDI, but for pure audio with guitars, GTP3 is my choice.

nice guitar work at the beginning..lol.. did not really like the middle though. .but still nice... on thet beginning, did you use the same wav form and change the pitch on one to separate into the right and left?

Sorry you didn't likr the middle. Thats the way I play, so like it or not, thats what you'll get. The beginning is actually two separate guitar parts, recorded separately No tricks!.

Lou, you have a lot of rigs mate! Do you ever use Amplitube with your guitars? Or do you just let your amps do the job?

I do use Amplitube. The chunky rythm licks after the dual guitar intro are processed through Amplitube. However, I do not use Amplitube by itself without first going through some other processer. Sonar 4 studio came with a full version of Amplitube (a supposed $130 freebee) instead of the Amplitube LE that came with GTP3. IMHO you arent missing much. Revalver is not bad either.

Yeah I use revalver..the one that came with GTP2. It's pretty good I reckon. Some of the presets do some nasty things to the sound. But some of them are good...and you can always program your own settings.

not saying the middle is not good, just in my opinion, continuing on or expanding to some degree the "mood" you had at the beginning would be better.. anyway.. song sounds good.. keep it up

Suggestions are always appreciated. I would have to admitt that before I came up with this middle part I was stuck in a rut. When I tried to play lead over the basic chord structure I used in the beginning, it came out sounding like southern rock, not what I had in mind. I do have an early version where the middle was just partially started. I may go back and try some other chords. A friend of mine suggested some alternatives to the C6th, Am7th I finally used.
