See Clearly
Here is a new Christian Rock song that I have been working on for the last 3 or 4 weeks. I have had the tune around for a while and was just reworking the lyrics back and forth until I was satisfied with them. I think I am pretty close on the mix. Please let me know if anything sounds off to you. See Clearly: https://soundcloud.com/michaeljhanson

Mike, Listening now to See Clearly, very nice sound and lyrics. Hope you are reading the Epistles of Paul, then you will surely see clearly. This is how I feel when I read them. Nice work on the song. Keep up the good songs. Praise the Lord. Peace be with you. Blessings, John

Mike, this is one of your better songs that I've heard. The vocals are too low in the mix and are buried by the guitar in the right channel. But, the vocals are sweet and remind me of Michael Stipe of REM. If the vocals were as loud as the guitar and the guitar as loud as the vocal, you would nail this mix. Really great effort on this tune!

I agree with Lynn's comments. The vocals are too low. the guitar has that rough Neil Young/ Crazy Horse vibe. I like that. I'm not a fan of the lead or the tone it has. Nice job overall.

John, Thanks for listening. I appreciate your kind words. Funny, the song was not intended to reflect on Paul's words, but when I had finished it, I noticed a likeness as well. Lynn, I agree with you. Especially on the verse vocals. It is obvious to me know that you pointed that out. I can't figure out what happened to me there. I posted a prior version on another forum site and one of the comments was that I had all of the vocals sitting just right. I did n't really touch the vocals in this new version, but somehow, something changed. Maybe I inadvertently clicked on something or rolled my mouse wheel and changed a setting. Herb, Thanks for your input on this song. Ya, I like the tone of the rhythm guitar tracks. I have found a couple of Pod Farm 2.5 tones that have become my staple "sim" tones. On the lead, I experimented with the Overloud sims some more. I know a few folks here that really like the new guitar sim that came with X2, but I just can't find my tone on it yet. Guess I need to come up with a different Lead as well.

Nice mix, you seem to have managed to get a good balance of all the tracks. It's hard to get that "Steal-Neil" guitar level correct but you've seemed to accomplish it. Some issues with the lead guitar timing - not sure if that's you or if the player is stuttering a little. The vocals are balanced but not always understandable, perhaps a little eq'ing could help to make them clearer? Overall a worthy effort. BTW in Revealed, you have a better vocal mix and I like the blend of acoustic and electric guitars. The message is clearer and that's what I think you really strive for in this genre. Ditto about the vocals in Hanging by a thread.

Hey Tap, Thanks for listening. I made some changes to the lead vocal on this one. Played a little with EQ and raised the overall levels just a touch. Hopefully they are sitting a little "clearer" in the mix. I took another stab at the Lead Guitar parts. Used a different "sim", back to PF2.5. I like the tone much better. Still not sure if I like the lead I played. I guess I will see what you all think before I go at it again. I am working some other songs up as well, while tweaking this one.

I liked this... nice tune, good message. Well played and sung. The vocals could come up some, all the better to get the message out. Well done.

Philz, thanks for listening. Clean, thanks man. This one took a while to hone, but is starting to come together.
