Seeing how we rate.

Just curious as to how you think we rate with everybody elses recordings. Always good to be able to learn something we might be doing wrong. Please be so kind as to check out these two tunes and let us know what you think. Have a nice day, Sal

    hey welcome salvatore. You guys are good!! Tell me more about you. Only heard aurora but I liked it-you have good arrangement sense. Are you a band-sounds like. Keep it coming. I'd say you rate pretty good.

    Thank you very much for your kind reply. It's basically just me (drummer, engineer) and my friend on bass. We find other local individuals to play keyboards and guitars as they come and go. We are in our 40's and have been recording since we've been in our teens on and off.

    Our combined studio setup is now at my bass players house so he's playing engineer but only after many mixes get sent to me for critique.

    Equipment and Studio we own:
    * Sonar 4.0.3 producer edition
    * 2 Mackie 1604VLZ Mixing Boards combined for 32x8 Analog
    * 2 M-Audio Delta 10-10 Digital Audio cards
    * New 2.8 Dual Xeon Computer, 2GB Ram, Nvidia Video, DVD Burner, etc.
    * Assorted Mics - New Mojave Audio MA-200 with eureka preamp.
    * Assorted Basses and Guitars
    * A full rack of outboard gear from ceiling to floor and enough pro plug-ins to choke a chicken.

    I lived in Cocoa Beach years ago and used to get stoned in Melbourne. Love to visit there again someday. I played nightly in clubs when I was 18. Good to have you around.

    Just wanted to thank you Pluto for your comments. Very refreshing to know we are on the right track. If the songs arent commercial sounding I lose interest pretty quickly.

    Got it to work by using IE. Minus 10 points though for making me leave Firefox and use Internet Exploiter

    Seriously though, I checked out Aurora and really liked the song. Really nice vocals, especially the woman's voice on the refrain.

    Listening to Aurora... Good music. The male vocals are good; the female vocals really jump out at me. Good arrangements. Good work!

    Hi, salvatore3!

    Just to be contrary, I listened to 06 first! Sounds good. You obviously spent some time on the production. Nice.

    I found myself wishing the drum sounds were better, though (especially given that you're a drummer -- where's your kit, man? ). It's not ungodly long, but it felt long to me. That's probably not a good sign. I think at about 3:00, I had had enough. That's maybe just an arrangement thing.

    Okay, now Aurora. Like this one better. Drum sounds are better. Vocals don't make my throat hurt. I actually like the male vocal on this better than the female (contrary to what I expected from the other posters). I think I like this composition better, too. There was a bit too much reverb wash on the middle guitar solo section, for my taste. It was obvious that it cleared up after the section ended, too.

    So, just some thoughts. Overall, well-crafted, I'd say.

    Cheers,
    M
