Seems like an easy enough problem to fix, right?

Hi everyone,

This is something that I used to do all the time with my trusty old VS-1680; so it doesn't seem out of the reason, that it is possible on Sonar.  I am using Sonar 7 Producer's Edition and here is the deal.  I have been laying down basic tracks for a song.  Finally, I have the song structure in it's entirety laid down.  Now, what if I decide that I want verse 1 to be twice as long?  Is there a way of inserting, or copying/pasting an existing clip; so that everything that comes after that insertion point, gets moved back the appropriate amount?  I tried pulling up the event list and inserting an event at the "now time" (having already put the "now time" at the point where I want to insert a new event.)  But, after inserting the event, I wasn't sure what the next step would be and I wasn't getting prompted to take any additional steps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...you guys are always very helpful.

Position your cursor where you want the insert to happen
    Select "All" (ctrl + a)

From the menu, select Insert > Times/measures.
Select the number of measures you want to insert
Make sure all the options are checked so that the positional integrity of any markers & existing envelopes/tempo changes etc are maintained.

Also, you can Ctrl-click and drag clips to copy them and there is an option to slide over existing material. Same thing with paste (advanced options). If you don't see these options when dragging or pasting make sure that "Ask Every Time" is enabled in Options>Global>Editing. For best results you may need to set snap to grid to Measure.
