Seems to Scan VST Plug Ins OK but?

Hi,
Upgraded to X3e Studio and wanted to use an old VST synth - Redtron.   The files for it sit in my VSTplugins folder and it seems to scan alright but I cant see it (and others) when I try to insert synth.

Strangely old projects that use Redtron still work,  but I can't insert another instance.  Is it something to do with Plug In Layouts?

Any ideas appreciated,

Best Adrian

Did you do a full 'Reset' AND 'Rescan'?

Try doing both.

Thanks Bob,

Tried that and you can see the scanner going through the plug ins and accepting Redtron (and others).  But it still doesn't show as a VST instrument when I go to insert a plug in?   Loading and an old project the browser does still show a previous instance of Redtron and it works fine;  but I can't insert another instance becauseits not showing in the plug in layouts.  So I think it scans Ok but doesn't populate the plug in layout.  I wonder if it is something to do with my Sonar upgrade being 64 bit and the VSTs being 32 bit?

It is probably not a 32/64bit issue. I just added the current Redtron SE from https://sites.google.com/site/artifakelabs/ to 64bit X3 Producer. The plug-in scans and with the default setting for VSTPlugInNameFormat is listed with the synths under the name Container (32-bit). I have a much older version in an archive. If I need to dig it up and test it let me know.

For information about the VSTPlugInNameFormat see http://www.cakewalk.com/documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X3&Req=INI_Files.4.html&Lang=EN

The same samples used in Redtron will work in DimPro, DimPro LE, Rapture and Rapture LE. See http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/1411016 for details

Hey scook - thanks so much!  I had completely disregarded Container (32 bit) because I was looking for Redtron as per a previous installation.  And thanks for the other tips as well - much appreciated, Adrian
