Selling CDs

Hi All,

I don't know which forum this would go under but we'll start here see where it gets moved.
The band I'm in is having a tough time moving CDs at shows. Locals shows are pretty good but out of town shows stink. We offer the disc on our website, CD baby, reverb nation, and now itunes. Lots of promo on FB and other networks. The product is good but we're need to sales are slowwwwww.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Need to sell CDs to recoup our money.

Visit our site for a listen: http://beforethedamned.com/

Also here's a nice side note:

I can't get to your site from work (and probably shouldn't try anyway with your domain name)

how much are you asking for your CD's?

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but a lot of bands now are giving away their CDs at gigs to entice people to keep coming back out to hear them live.

Listened to GTM blues.... they mix is pretty good and it sounds true to genre. Very heavy....

I'm thinking, based on the genre.... your audience is comprised mostly of  young men & boys with lots of tattoos and piercings..... leather and chains.... doesn't seem like the kind of audience that get all gushy about buying CD's.

Maybe the price is too high..... maybe try a few things , lower the price to just above break even even for a set period of time during a show or a break...... Getting them out is better than not....

nice licks BTW in Come Sweet Death..... cheerful little ditty that one is.

Thanks for the comments guys. CDs are $10 for 8 songs.

I was asked to play bass on this and then do supporting gigs to pay for production costs. Long story short, an excessive amount of units were ordered in the first run and I doubt they'll ever get sold. Looking into other options to sell copies. Thanks for the input.

$10 for a CD isn't bad...  heck give away a bunch every night...... maybe 6 to 10 CD's. When you order large amounts the per unit price gets low...a buck or less each, so you can afford to give away a handful at gigs....  also don't forget.... 2 for the price of 1....

the point now is to get rid of them and hopefully cover the cost.... next time... remember you can re-order if you run out.

although i'm aware that is late for this solution, i'm writing so that you (and anyone else) knows.  buy a CD burner and burn your own CD's as you sell them.  i sing in the subway of New York City and i burn my own CD's, have a homemade cover that i can copy at Staples or Kinko's o any place where the copies come out nice, and i put it together myself.  been selling 11 songs for $10 for several years.

Agreed.... You can burn a dozen or so a week easily on any home computer, many printers now print on CD's and they sell printable audio CD's at most stores now.... that's what I do on the rare occasions I need a physical CD.
