@backwoods... That's what I'm saying. I AM trying to send the details to CW tech support. After I sent the tech request I got an error message. The main points are a) There are a couple tutorial vids in my account that won't download for me and they said they would send me fresh links which they haven't... not a big deal but I'd like those vids if at all possible. b) I think my i/o box is causing dropouts and engine stops and would like to know their thoughts on that particular device (Layla Echo 3G PCI) and whether the replacement I am looking at if that is the problem (Focusrite Scarlett1 8i6) is compatible with X1 because another user here mentioned some people were having problems with it... which got followed up by a Focusrite dude showing up saying they had fixed something but I wanted to confirm with CW that it was an acceptable i/o (it's a long story but those are my major issues and I've already crowed about them enough to you guys here in the forum) and finally c) I asked if they had specific BIOS and Windows settings/configurations that would optimize my system with X1 or point me to some articles that might help as I am slowly learning some very mundane and obscure little settings can cause issues and I want X1 to be the absolute focal point of this system so I want their advice onto how to make it run like a star. Now that is an extremely truncated version and only meant to let you guys know what I'm trying to figure out. This is Cakewalk's job... not yours although I appreciate the help. Like I said I'm just tired and getting frustrated. I'll call them tomorrow if need be to figure this out but right now I'm just a little irked and venting a bit. My apologies. Cheers.

I have had the Layla Echo 3G for over a year-all with X1 from x1a to x1D exp. NO issues at all. Next question
ever heard of paragraphs?
BTW-I have a pretty new Ausu MB-PCI is PCI-Sure I have PCI-e slots too but PCI works fine. Echo has some of the MOSt stable drivers in the universe. It's not his card. May be the way he has installed and configured it, or other user issues. The card and driver are rock solid. My specs ar in my signature.

@stratman... This issue has been resolved, well I still have to tweak a bunch of stuff and get my new i/o but I have more details to move forward with and it all makes sense. The lack of paragraphs is due to my browser not getting along well with this forum so if I want paragraphs I have to manually type in the HTML and even that doesn't work when using "Quick Reply" so sometimes I don't bother. I checked out your board and it is indeed a modern one like mine however what's this PCI-Sure thing? It might be an extra feature on your Asus that my board, sadly, is lacking. I guess the new boards cheap out on the PCI chipset or something and that's the issue. The one you have might have a better chipset than mine. It's been said MANY times here that the PCI slot is the likely culprit and Cake support said the same thing. The Layla was installed to the exact installation procedures released by Echo, all drivers are correct, installed and fully up to date and Sonar has been set up to use it using the exact procedures detailed in the manuals and help topics. It does "work" but it is causing dropouts when performing certain basic but critical functions. CW tech support sent me to a Sweetwater guide on system configuration for audio which I will implement (likely tonight) and hopefully that helps things a bit but even without those tweaks from what I've been told these dropouts shouldn't happening like they are. Something isn't cooperating with the Layla. I have the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 if you are curious. Yes, I agree it SHOULD work but apparently even Layla themselves are aware of this and testing PCI to PCIe adapters to get the old cards running more smoothly. It is also possible you have your Buffer rate cranked which is what I'll probably be doing until I get my new box. I'm currently getting 12.6ms in and 12.6ms out and still getting dropouts. Much more than that will cause problems while recording but currently I'm just trying to hammer through the tutorials at this point so it doesn't matter that much. So yeah guys... nothing to see here. I've got my answers, now I just gotta do the work. Cheers!

Now here's something you guys can help me with... how can I edit the thread title to say this is resolved or probably even more preferable just remove the thread completely? Can I do that or does that have to be done by an Admin?

Now I'm actually wondering if maybe in the slew of drivers associated with this MOBO there is something specifically related to the chipset. Hmmm...

PCI chipset that is. The main chipset drivers are fully installed.

I have used this card with 3 different motherboards. Good luck

BTW They (Echo, is the company) is trying to get to the oci-e platform because many boards do not even have reg pci slots.

I also don't think Asus developed a new PCI architecture-so I have to believe yours is very similar to mine.
Sorry, I just don't buy it's the card and the PCI slot. But we will find out because I qam getting the same board, just not the PRO version-extra $$ for crap I don't need.

Just out of curiosity how old is your Layla? Mine's probably about 7 years old at this point. Maybe they updated something since then.

I bought it about 14 months ago-yours is the Layla3G right? There is a Layla 3 that is the older model. I'll see if I can find a manufacture date on it

Yup. It's the 3G. Mine's probably one of the earlier models so it could be yours has some extra chips or something. The actually card on mine is really sparse.

And are you certain yours is old school PCI and not PCIe or one of the other PCI style connectors?

Same PCI slot as on your board. I probably will have the AsusP8Z68V-Gen3 in about 2 weeks.

Well I'd be curious to see what your results are. I am seeing something about Layla being PCI-X compatible whatever that means. Maybe that's what mine is lacking.

The video links in my account don't work either. I called tech support and they e-mailed me some links that did. I don't know what the problem is there, but they got them to me. My e-mail to tech support (a week ago) has still not been responded to, so...I would call them if I were you.

Yeah... I think they just forgot to send the videos to me the second time I asked. I did kind of dump a pile of questions on them that were far more important. I might call the 888 number next week. Is monday a holiday in the US too? Obviously ya'll don't celebrate Victoria day but maybe you have something else going on. Peace.
