Yes... it's me again. Hopefully there is still a Cakewalk rep logged in. I just put my tech support request in but after I submitted it I get a page telling me "The internet is broken...". I gotta figure this stuff out and it's too detailed to do over the phone.

Seriously... I'm about to pop. I need this stuff to work. I am completely exhausted from wrangling with it all. Would I have gotten a notice in my email if the ticket was received? I just need to know if this went to the right people. I am quite literally getting desperate at this point.

I'm trying to sort out some hardware and setup issues and I am under some time constraints. I'm pretty patient but I need to know that my report/query has been sent. From what the post message screen is telling me... well I don't know if it has been sent. It's saying something screwed up. Also this was meant for tech support but I wasn't given any tech specific options. Just "support". I gotta get this stuff sorted out like yesterday. Whatever. I'm kind of freaking out because all I've been doing lately is trying to find solutions to my problems and I'm mentally tired and getting a little anxious about all this. I need to calm myself a little... but seriously this is important. I hope someone comes along to save my sorry ass. I really am trying to do everything right. Wurgh...

As far as the specific issues in the support request I've already tossed those into these forums and gotten a lot of help but now it's time to get specific advice from Cake for their take on the issues so I can move on confidently. I doubt you guys want to deal with the wall of text I just tossed at them.

Are you a CW tech support guy? I mean I could detail the issues and would appreciate any advice but I've kind of been spinning the forum wheels for the past few days (which has definitely been helpful) but I'm looking for very specific advice about compatibility issues with hardware devices I own or may upgrade to and system/Win7 configurations to optimize X1 based on Cakewalk's own recommendations. Seriously I typed it all up for them so they could review it themselves and offer their opinions as the DAW manufacturer. See what I mean? I really am just frustrated and probably overblowing things but I'm tired and need to get things done. I am more just trying to verify how to get this info to the proper people within CW with this thread. Not leech advice off other users.

Why don't you detail your queries to Cakewalk if you don't care to share them here? Specifically- what are your questions?

You really need to call if it's that important.
Honestly, you are starting to sound condescending to the forum, and your "emergency" of wanting someone to tell you what to buy is not really an emergency.
    Have a nice day.

@backwoods... That's what I'm saying. I AM trying to send the details to CW tech support. After I sent the tech request I got an error message. The main points are a) There are a couple tutorial vids in my account that won't download for me and they said they would send me fresh links which they haven't... not a big deal but I'd like those vids if at all possible. b) I think my i/o box is causing dropouts and engine stops and would like to know their thoughts on that particular device (Layla Echo 3G PCI) and whether the replacement I am looking at if that is the problem (Focusrite Scarlett1 8i6) is compatible with X1 because another user here mentioned some people were having problems with it... which got followed up by a Focusrite dude showing up saying they had fixed something but I wanted to confirm with CW that it was an acceptable i/o (it's a long story but those are my major issues and I've already crowed about them enough to you guys here in the forum) and finally c) I asked if they had specific BIOS and Windows settings/configurations that would optimize my system with X1 or point me to some articles that might help as I am slowly learning some very mundane and obscure little settings can cause issues and I want X1 to be the absolute focal point of this system so I want their advice onto how to make it run like a star. Now that is an extremely truncated version and only meant to let you guys know what I'm trying to figure out. This is Cakewalk's job... not yours although I appreciate the help. Like I said I'm just tired and getting frustrated. I'll call them tomorrow if need be to figure this out but right now I'm just a little irked and venting a bit. My apologies. Cheers.

I don't understand how that's condescending, dude. You guys have helped point me in the right direction in the past few days and now I know what to actually ask the support guys. If I've offended you I'm sorry. I've been headfirst into this stuff since last tuesday and I'm starting to burn out so maybe I'm coming off like a jerk. I really just want make this thing work properly.

And yeah... it is kind of an emergency to me because I have a bunch of health stuff to deal with which is starting to knock on my door and I want to get this resolved so I can pack it away and deal with those things then come back knowing everything is proper and working. Yanno?

Beepster its late and a CW person may or may not be online here. Take it easy and let things develop as they will. The forum will support you in anyway it can but posting to CW here is not a great idea.

If you could post your questions you might be more likely to get a response that will answer those questions.

What I think is a little perplexing to the forum is knowing you have questions for CW tech but haven't posted them here and you are seen as attacking CW for no response. I know that is not your intention. Yet you know how this forum works so it is a little off putting.

On the other hand we may be able to help but you have to give us a chance.

Aww, John... you're a great guy and have been super helpful and I've actually pretty much discussed all of these things with you directly and asked all the pertinent questions here. Ya'll have put me on the right track to hammering down the solutions and that is what the content of that support request is. Just the final step of making everything work the way it should and getting the final word from CW. This post was more about making sure the tech guys got my request which I do not think they have... and yeah, I'm a little frustrated because I spent many hours trying to get it just right so they would know exactly what my issues were. Not trying to slag CW and certainly not slagging you guys. I just want to get this info to them so I can move forward. Whatever. To anyone I've offended I'm sorry. I just want the product I paid for to work the way it should.

"The internet is broken" came from either some stupid browser or stupid web page. I've seen a similar message using Cakewalk's site. The next thing to try would be a different browser or a phone call. Too late for today, though. But it ought to be legitimate to duplicate your tech support request here, just in case someone with exactly the right knowledge comes along and would not mind answering.

I'll be calling them tomorrow to sort it out and make sure the details get sent to the right people. If they have browser support issues with their webpage they should post that info. Doesn't matter though because I will not deviate from my browser setup. I will have to get a direct email address I guess if that is the problem. Thank you.

You haven't offended me in the least. I don't think the forum is so fragile that your post would really offend anyone. So don't let that bother you. My post was more cautionary than anything else.

I want you to get X1 working flawlessly for you. I just think a little patients would go a long way.

I also believe a call will get faster results and be more rewarding.

    Beepster:

This forum is not for receiving help from Cakewalk Tech Support. This forum is here for us users to help each other.

If you want help from Cakewalk, you have to contact their official Tech Support, as you tried to do with an email (but by phone would be faster and best.) Now, if you're not sure your email was sent, try again. Email clients usually save a copy of sent email, so you could find that saved sent email, and re-send it.

Now, I'll try to answer your questions.

    A) Did you go to your Cakewalk store account and look for a link to the Video you purchased? Usually, as with other download purchases, their is always a link to re-download what you purchased, and that link is available through your Cakewalk store account.

    B) The Echo Layla 3G is a nice unit. If you have a newish motherboard, the problem may be because the motherboard doesn't have proper support for the PCI bus. Newer motherboards have dropped proper support for PCI because they opted to support newer technologies such as PCIe and such. If your motherboard is a newish one, you may be seeing this drop of proper support for PCI and as a consequence you experience drop outs, pop and clicks and bad performance from your PCI based audio interface. I'm afraid the only solution in such a case is to get an audio interface that is not PCI based, such as one that is based on PCIe, firewire, or USB.

    C) There are a few BIOS settings a number of us have found to render better performance for our DAW based systems. That is, disabling mostly power management settings in the BIOS, settings such as CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E), and C3/C6/C7 state Support. Other than that, I see no reason X1 should not run optimally by loading the BIOS Optimized default settings, and then disabling such Power Management features as listed above.

The other things that improve system performance are to disable Core Parking in Windows if you're running Windows 7, using the Power Option scheme of always on, disable Windows Sounds, and don't use but disable any wireless network adapters, if applicable.

You can see the link below for how to do the Windows tweaks mentioned above and if you want to take a look at any other Windows 7 tweaks (but any other tweaks are really not needed, as Windows 7 is basically good to go, right out of the box.)

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1862515

Finally, use the DPC Latency Checker to see if your system reads stable.

    Hope this helps.

    EDIT:

Put in the SONAR/Windows 7 teaks link, I forgot to put in here. Oops.

imagine if every person that need help from tech support came to this forum and started their own personal thread like yours?
what do you think it would look like in here?

it would be sooo hard for people to try and find posts to help others because they would be sifting threw hundreds of threads with titles like:
    "i need tech suppot now"

you need to be patient(as much as i know its hard)
this is not fair to others.
no one here is more important than the next.

    with that said,
you should have recieved a conformation email detailing your subbmitted tech support request.

have you tried sending a second email?
by the sound of this thread it appears youve sent multiple im guessing?
the site could be down for updates.
best thing to do is call.
call in the morning.they will send all details of that phone call to you in an email.

    good luck

Yes... I agree and I am a rather patient fellow despite rather disturbing personal hurdles which I won't get into. I do however break sometimes and seeing that error page... after a non stop week of plugging away at this... and after a full year of planning this... well it didn't break me but it certainly bothered me. I will sort it out as I always do. As far as my friend upthread... not sure what his problem is but I don't think that was cool. Whatever. Peace.

Thank you TomasBarnes... those are all issues that I covered in great detail in my support request. I appreciate the input and it does go into greater detail than I previously had so that's great, particularly the BIOS settings part. Still would like some definitive answers from Cake. Also this thread was not meant to ask for tech support from you guys as I said earlier nor to have Cake representatives cater to my whims. I was just trying to figure why my email did not go through.

@chuckebaby Yes... I know this is not a support forum I was just hoping one of the guys were still around so I could get my ticket through to them tonight as opposed to waiting until tomorrow. That's what I've been saying and that is the source of the original frustration. I just wanted to know how to actually get my info to them... not demanding they show up here to answer all my questions in thread.

Seriously guys. I know I'm new here and stuff but I'm not a jackass and I know how this stuff works. I just wanted to maybe get someones attention who could tell me why my support email wasn't going through. It is quite possible it is a browser issue so I will discuss it with a rep tomorrow. Thanks and again my apologies for offending you.

Sorry chuckebaby... I didn't read your whole post. Yes I tried multiple times and the same error came up. If I had a direct email I could do it that way but it's far too late now. I'm just gonna call tomorrow and make absolutely sure it goes through and it is in tech support's hands. Thanks. I'll get this sh*t working come hell or high water. Just tired is all. I haven't even picked my guitar in a week and that makes me cranky.

You could try going to the forum user window and look for Willy Jones who lurks here. He is a Cakewalk tech support guy and you could PM (Personal Message) him through the forum.
Start a new thread, copy and paste the entire contents of your email into it and give the link to the thread to Willy.

Just a thought. Hope it helps.

Thanks mudgel (and again to all of you) but I'll let it sit for tonight. I'll call them tomorrow even though it's long distance. I've got some food in my belly now and stepped away from this mayhem for a bit (watching some Torchwood) and calmed myself down. Not to go into too much detail but just to add some perspective... I'm not a healthy guy. I ain't dying but I'm not gonna live to be a ripe old age. I'm in constant physical pain and lost everything, including my career, due to my affliction. The only thing that'll save me now is my music. I'm no chump nor a quitter though so I've scrounged every last penny I could to dump into this recording stuff over the past few years so I can teach and produce music again. I really just want to be able to make some money based on my own merits or at least not just be languishing while the days and years pass by. Seeing that error tweaked my last nerve a bit and sent me into my "JUST DO IT!!!" mode. No excuse but yeah... there you have it. We all have our annoyance thresholds and tonight mine was crossed. I'll get it all done though. Thank you all again for the input. Tomorrow is another day to break down barriers and open new doors. Peace.

You are better off calling. When you get someone on the phone, they are very helpful. As for emailing, that is a joke. They sometimes reply and sometimes do not. They should get rid of email support if they can't do it consistently.
