Seriously slow download speeds from Cake?

Trying to download X3c patch - and receiving absurdly slow download speeds. Have done tests to other sites, including speed tests and it seems limited to whomever is hosting Cake's data (amazon?).  Getting 100k per second.. whereas I get 50Mbps from other sites (I have FiOS quantum).  I've tried a few different downloads, all were way too slow.  I'll try downloading another day - I'm not gonna sit around for an hour - 500meg would usually come down in a minute on my connection.

Anybody else seeing similar poor download performance?

That's odd. We use Amazon which is pretty solid and optimizes the speed based on your location. Give it 15 mins or so. Let us know if you are still seeing issues.

80 min (around 80-100K) in Sweden yesterday. I also have a much faster dl speed usually. Maybe 1000 people downloading at the same time slows down?

Mine (Holland) also went way slower than my regular download speed, though I didn't time it. It was way worse for the X3a original install by the way, kept dropping the connection until I gave in and got a download manager.

I've found that DL speed can be very browser dependent. I switched from IE to Chrome to fix my problem back around X2 time span. IE was causing 6-8 hour DL...DL for X3c was about 5 minutes using Chrome.

thanks all... I'll just wait a day or so.. I usually don't have any issues with downloading via IE, so assume the server was just getting hammered.

what a difference a day makes - last night, still taking upwards of an hour to download - this morning - 1 minute.

    Hi Tom,
Yes, it's an R9 from 2000 - my baby. I have a few R9s, but this one's very special to me.
    Thanks

    Hi all,

I see extremely slow downloads both last evening and this evening (with FIOS: 60 kB/sec for X3e patch, or 3 hours for 632 MB).  Oh, now it's 40 kB/sec!  It seems like this keeps happening from time to time, but CW rarely notices it until it's pointed out to them, so here you go, CW!

    Regards,
    DaveClark
