Session Drummer 2 (In SONARXI) AGAIN (drat)
folks... sorry for this...but...a while back someone...(i think bristol jonesey)...told me how to install Session Drummer 2 from my SONAR7 disc...& it was working fine in SONAR XI for a while. now...I can't load it as a soft synth. the *.dll is still in it's original folder...but SONAR XI is not scanning it upon startup or failed plugins. i really need to get that back...because...in a particular project...I had tweaked the levels of some individual drums; & it was perfect for the track. now...because it is still listed as a synth in the rack...(even tho it won't engage due to this problem)...does that mean SONAR saved those settings...so that when I get it back they'll still be there...??? thanx, mark4man

To make sure SONAR scans the folder you have the SessionDrummer 2.dll, go to the SONAR toolbar: Utilities>Cakewalk Plug in Manager, in the dialog box that pops up click Options, and then click Add, then browse to the directory path where you have the SessionDrummer 2.dll, click OK and put a checkmark in "re-scan existing plugins" to make sure SONAR scans that dll. Click OK and then click the "Scan VST Plugins" button. Try to reload the project and see if SessionDrummer 2 is working, now? Hope that works for you.

tom... did that already...even moved it to a different folder, then re-pathed & re-scanned. As I watch the scan...SONAR isn't seeing it...& it's not on any available lists (including 'vst' & 'vsti' in the plug-in manager). I think I should just reinstall it from the SONAR7 disc...but can't seem to find any files on that relative to a 'setup.exe'. thanx, mark4man

Looks like you should uninstall and then reinstall. To install from SONAR 7 disk: Go through as though you are installing the entire SONAR 7 program. You will get to a screen where you can uncheckmark all the elements you do not want to install. At that screen uncheck everything, including the Program Files. Then, scroll back up to the Softsynth section and checkmark Session Drummer 2. Go through the series of Next buttons and uncheck anything else to install, so that you will only be installing Session Drummer 2. Hope that helps.

I did not know this could be done! Can you please explain how to do this? I have one project from Sonar 8 that had SD2 and of course when I upgraded to X1, I lost it...should have thought about this before I upgraded, because I lost ALL the drums in this project. FAIL. Any help would be appreciated! David

I did not know this could be done! Can you please explain how to do this? If you mean how to install Session Drummer 2 in X1, read post #4 above. It should be the same with any SONAR version disk that included Session Drummer 2. After you install SD2, make sure you have the SD2 directory path added in the Cakewalk Plug in Manager and do a scan. You should then be able to use Session Drummer 2 in X1 and your older projects. If you run into any problem/s just come back and post. :)
