Session Drummer 2 and Garritan Pocket Orchestra

So I'm thinking about upgrading my Home Studio 6 to 6XL, but there are a couple things I need to know:

1-Does the Garritan Pocket Orchestra have a solo cello instrument?

2- How difficult is it for someone with little/no midi knowledge to create new drum patterns for SD2? Does this require any additional programs?

    1. The pocket orchestra comes with 3 solo Cello programs - Legato, pizzicato and tremolo.

    2. There is no documentation with SD2 as far as I know - but a couple of videos on Youtube. It is not a total breeze to use, but with a bit of experimentation you should probably be able to get the hang of it. The best way to start would be to use a couple of the built in patterns and try changing the midi notes. Then move on to making your own patterns. Don't think you need any additional programs.

There is a little extra info put together by SD2 users on the SONAR User Wiki here: Session Drummer 2 Synth.

You may find this article by Craig Anderson in Sound on Sound magazine useful :-

He writes a regular monthly column for Sound on Sound on Sonar - have a look through, there's some really useful stuff in them for all levels of Sonar users. Go to the Sound on Sound home page and select Articles>Technique>Sonar Notes.
