Session Drummer 2 sequencer?

I tried checking around the forums, and tutorials, and you tube videos.

and i havent really found anywhere saying that sonar 7 PE allows you to do a step sequencer with Session drummer 2.

have i overlooked it?

or do i just create the beats myself with my Korg R3 midi controller, using layers?

Sure. Insert soft-synth - session drummer 2. Then put your now time at bar 1. Select track 2 (track 1 is session drummer's audio track) and Insert Step Sequencer. The problem is that without a drum map, you may only get a set of 12 notes. Try routing the output of track 2 to a "new drum map" and choose GM Map FUll. That will give you all of the notes. Then you'll have to poke around to find which ones are active. Don't forget to load a kit in Session Drummer 2, or you'll have black cells and no sound.

Hit the Rewind button on the transport controls. |<
That will bring your current position in the timeline (the "Now Time") back to the beginning: Measure 1: Beat 1: MIDI Tick 000.
i selected track 2 but i couldnt find anywhere that it said insert step sequencer under the drop down.
Go to the Views menu, and select Step Sequencer.
With regard to a complete Session Drummer 2 setup, I'll point you to some recent information: Here, and here.

oh gosh thank you all so much. that really helped. i got it running now! the only real problem i am having is when i hook my KORG R3 up its not picking it up in my computer. i tried uninstalling every driver i had for it, then restarted with the korg cd it came with and followed step by step, and sonar didnt detect it in my midi options.

so then i tried uninstalling that, getting the latest vista driver from the korg website, it still didnt work.

    any suggestions?

    thanks again.
