Session Drummer 3 Loading Instrument
When I right click on the snare I am offered four note options. Which ever one I select and load an instrument, they ALL become that instrument. How do you make them all separate so I can load a rimshot on 37, a snare on 38, a different snare on 39, and a side stick on 40? I know I over thinking something here, just don't know what. Thanks, Bill

I'm not sure what you mean by them all becoming that instrument? when I load Session drummer 3 and load a kit, I can right click on any instrument and choose a different note value for each of them, but it doesn't change all of them.

do you maybe mean that when you load for example, the left Tom is loaded as NOTE 48 HIMdTom and you can choose it to be NOTE 50 HI.Tom but you want it to be NOTE 50 HIMdTom instead but can't choose that? if that's what you mean then you'd need to create a drum map to set that up.

What I mean is that when I right click the snare and select it to be one of the pre assigned note numbers, then load a sample, all four of the note numbers become that one sample.

Welcome to session drummer 3! The only way to do this (that I am aware of) is to get in and play with the sound font files. They are just text files so they are easy to edit. Their location is dependent on your system. What you need to do is change the file path for each note number. I think this is a major limitation to the program. What you decribe in your opening post is how it should work. Choose a note number - load a sample - ONLY that note number gets the sample changed, not everything inside the container.

I have the same problem with SD3 in Sonar 8.xx and in X1. It's a serious limitation. but codamedia is right, prople say that if you rewrite the .flac files, you can make one load just one instrument, or any combination of instruments. But every time I've tried opening one of these files in notepad, it's just machine-language gibberish.

I see. yes, that's a limitation of SD3.

The one you want to edit is the ".sfz" files with a text editor. These are the soundfont files that point to specific sound samples (such as Flac files). It's pretty complicated for those that don't like to get under the hood though.

OMG, I was thinking about upgrading to sonar x1 producer to get this ability. Guess I am not doing that. I did notice that even with the Studio version and Studio Instruments, it does work when you edit the PROG file. I need to try to fake it out and edit the sfz files and actually get what I want that way, imagine that. They came so close too. Well I guess its almost usable. To not let you pick the drums for each set, come on, its a drum set, we want to choose.
