Session Drummer Help

Hi there.

I insert SD into a project. Sonar puts in 2 tracks - one midi, the other with what looks like a piano roll icon. The audio is registering on both the master and piano roll track. The paino roll track has no record button. I've tried recording with the midi track but I get no audio from the recording when I try to play it back.

Some guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Riz

One track is for midi data and one track is for the audio output. That's what you get when you use single source.

If you want each drum on a different track, you need to select multiple outs. either mono or stereo, its up to you when using the insert soft synth function. If you use the multiple outs, you'll then need to change each channel in the session drummers mixer section form 1 to 10 so each drum outputs onto a different audio track.

How are you trying to record the midi - are you using a keyboard, or just clicking on the Session Drummer interface? I don't think you can do the latter (or at least I haven't been able to work out how to do it)

Let us know what you're trying to record. The play button in Session Drummer is a preview button. It lets you try the patterns etc. You can't record what you are playing. You drag and drop the midi (via the musical note icon) from the GUI to Sonar.

When you launch Session Drummer 2 you should get an audio/synth track and a midi track. The midi track has a record button. You can record hits via a midi controller.

Hi and thanks to all who responded. I just watched a vid that showed how to drag and drop of the SD pattern. I was hitting the play button thinking (wrongly) that I could just record the audio I was hearing. Now that I have the pattern pasted to the midi track I assume I can solo that track and record it to audio.

    Thank again - Riz

You can just Edit-Bounce it to an audio track, if you want. You don't even have to do that. You can File-Export to a WAV file and it will render the softsynth track to audio during that process.

Besides bouncing it to audio, you can also freeze the synth to render it to audio.
