Session Drummer - What do I need to be able to use this?

Hi,

Total newbie question here.

It shows on Cakewalks site that you can download Session Drummer 2 for $79.  But under system requirements is says you must have - VSTi compatible host (PC only).  Can someone explain what that means?  I assume the host is some type of recording software and the download for Session Drummer is a plugin.

Currently I'm not interested in using recording software.  I have an old Fostex A-8, 8 track reel to reel and a Fostex mixer.  And I need some type of drum machine.  I've watched the demo's and Session Drummer 2 looks pretty cool.  Is there a way for me to be able to use Session Drummer w/out having the recording software package?

Thanks,

Mark

ok.. it means any number of programs that support the vst format..

    e.g. sonar ... cubase ... reaper etc..

the "host" is normally the sequencer yep...

you MIGHT be able to use a VST wrapper to make it execultable.. it's commonly known as a "mini host"

    http://www.tobybear.de/p_minihost.html

is one, haven't tried it.. but to get the best use out of it I'd say get a sequencer
