Setting Up Back Up files for Windows 7

I would like to upgrade to Windows 10 when the driver becomes available for my Edirol FA-66 but every I try to back up I get an error message it was unable to complete the back up. This was the second try. The first showed I had corrupt files in the  system image form the initial upgrade. I'm at a loss here on what to do. Everything I've done has turned into a disaster. I've been told what I need to do but each and every time I try it doesn't work

Have you tried making a backup (disc image) with a program such as the free Macrium Reflect?  A good disc backup program, rather than the built in Windows backup works much better (and makes a complete backup of the entire hard drive).

From an administrative command prompt run chkdsk /R for all your hard drives.

Then check this link:

Make sure windows update is up to date.

Back using something acronis trueimage or above suggestion.

Thanks fireberd and Dok! I had no idea clicking the win 10 icon in my taskbar would cause all this

You probably had corruption all the time just didn't know it... so Win10 done you a favour without even installing :)
