Setting up keyboard controller with Sonar

Hi all

Got an Alesis Q49 keyboard controller for Christmas. I've never used one before in Sonar so was wondering what I need to do in terms of making it jive with Sonar? Haven't even got it out of the box yet (Christmas got in the way) but I'm hoping to later today. Apparently it's either USB or mains powered (yet comes with neither a USB cable or a power supply). What parts of Sonar do I need to configure so it recognises the keyboard? I guess USB would be the way to go?

    Hi. The Q49  is class compliant, which means you do not need drivers. All you should need is a USB cable, and Windows will recognize it when connected. When you open SONAR (after connecting the Q49), go to Preferences (P), MIDI, Devices and make sure it is checked. Hope it helps.

    And the good news is it also has a DIN midi port as well as your Tascam so you have both options.

    Guys I know this'll probably get shunted to the hardware section now but I've hooked the Q49 up via USB and all's fine - except I can't get the Pitch and Modulation wheels to work. The keyboard is playing sounds fine!

    Well see what happens if you use the midi connection? Myself I get nervous when Windows supplies drivers. My Roland A49 is identical to yours , but it comes with drivers.
