Setup outboard gear on bus

Hi guys,
I've asked this before, but I'm having trouble getting a solution.
I want to use the External Insert plugin on a bus to incorporate some outboard gear I have (Zoom multi fx rack unit, compressor etc.) I've set this up before, BUT the effect I'm using from the Zoom rack unit is coming through on all my tracks, not just the ones I send to the bus.
I'm using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 interface and on that, outputs 5/6 are going in to the Zoom unit and back out to inputs 9/10 on the Saffire unit.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
ANY help is appreciated

You probably want to make sure the send to bus tracks are isolated not sending to master in CbB. If there is any cross pollination there the tracks will all be sending to the same source.

thanks Starise. That's what it sounds like is happening, like cross-talk on a tape. I ask, how could the tracks being sent to the bus also be sending a signal to the master with the post-processing? The unaffected audio it outputted to the Master, as normal and I'm sending audio to the mix bus. It's like the processed signal is being sent to the Master and being heard on all tracks...again, like cross-talk.  I haven't tried changing from inputs 9/10 to a different input.

    Thanks

The only place audio enters is 9/10 according to your info, so this is the only place the zoom affected audio should be going to. I imagine you've checked for anything suspect on those tracks such as sends and misdirected outputs. I have never heard this reported as a bug so I suspect it isn't CbB...I'm not saying it isn't only that it would be the first time I've ever heard of it happening.

I would simply go over everything one last time to make sure everything is plugged in where it should be. It's easy to accidentally go into the wrong jacks. It can be frustrating to find and isolate some of these problems. A process of elimination usually works best. Take one possibility at a time away until you find it. It should be a fairly direct fix
Audio in to track> Send to zoom input/focusrite>zoom through buss from focusrite>buss to master. If that path is clean it should be working. I know. It should be...

thanks Starise. I'm thinking of using different inputs/outputs on the focusrite. Then, trying mono (L) only. just to see.

thanks again.  I thought it was pretty straightforward as well.  like a send and return on a Tascam tape machine.
