Severe distortion in X1, but same project plays flawlessly in 8.5

This just started yesterday. I routinely track at 3ms through my emu 1212m. For some reason, after opening and working with a project for a few minutes this horrible, comb filtered sounding distortion starts that if you knew what it's supposed to sound like you could make out. This is not just crackles/pops at low latency settings sound wise but almost a synthesizer bass distorted sound. But if I set my latency up to 6 or 7ms it stops. I just defragmented my hard drives (OS and audio) did not help. I opened the same project in 8.5 and it plays easily at 2ms as this a new project with few audio tracks and plugins as yet.

At first I thought maybe it was my sound card and maybe a clocking issue, but with it working in 8.5 I'm not so sure. perhaps this is an X1 issue. I have x1b installed. I tried one of the quick fixes and got several crashes and reverted back to x1b, though I haven't tried the latest. I'm trying that next.

Specs in my sig

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks

Jim

At least for now Quick fix 255 has stopped the problem. I wish I'd tried that first! At 2ms latency I only get the normal pops/crackles, though a lot more than what I get with 8.5. Is X1 less efficient than 8.5?

Update: This didn't fix the problem. After an hour or so working on a project, it started again and is also now showing the same behavior in 8.5. I don't think I mentioned it, but I'm using 64bit on both Sonar programs.

Maybe it's a driver issue. It's kinda weird that it starts after using it for a while.
