Sorry but I just had to bump this - Its now at 72% with 21 days to go, a bit behind their target. I am really hoping they make the target and the DVD goes ahead.

Just think of where the Who would be if Pete sold his stage gear instead of destroying it? I've heard they weren't even profitable (due to the gear abuse and inevitable record label screwings) until after the Tommy album.

They have just announce that due to the campaign only reaching 85% the filming won't take place on Saturday.
They have extended the deadline to the end of July and will film in the Autumn if it reaches target.
I shows how precarious the finances of excellent non mainstream bands are. The band must be really frustrated.

Not trying to be a smartass here... I haven't played live original music in a long time, but that used to be a decent revenue generation. Especially once you could draw enough attention to make a DVD worthwhile. Has that changed? What about music sales? I thought about crowdfunding to pay for the mixing and mastering of my next album, but then realized that I had a product to sell (my last album) instead. Just thinking that having a product to sell (live performance, MP3) would be a better revenue generator than a possible future product. To me, it seems like he difference between giving my money to a panhandler vs a busker. The busker is selling something, and much more likely to get my money.

The band has four albums to date, on their own lable "Firefly Music" I am not sure what kind of sales they get. They tour frequently but play small venues. Several members play in other bands, the guitarist and bass player most notably with the Steve Rothery Band. Ann-Marie Helder has worked with the likes of Geoff Downes and John Wetton. They are all full time musicians and obviously make a living but seem to in for the love of it not riches. The following is small but enthusiastic, enthusistic enough to raise £21,000 in a few weeks. I am in because I am one of those enthusiastic fans. I don’t think the panhandling analogy is accurate in this case. If the target is not reached no one will lose out, any money will be refunded in full. The majority of this contributing will have seen the band live on several occasions and will really want that live DVD because we know how good they are live.

Fair enough! I listened to what they had streaming, and they're quite good. The DVD was a little pricey for me, so i bought Incarnate on iTunes. Every little bit helps...

Well, It took longer than they hoped but they have made the target and the concert is scheduled for 16th October. I am hoping I can make it to London for that one.
