Shatnertica?
I took a few moments to peruse the Interwebnitubes today. That was my first mistake. I saw this: http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=825711&ocid=ansent11 That's right. William Shatner (the Price Line Negotiator to you young punks) has chosen not to learn from past history. He is boldly going where he has already gone before. William Shatner is working on recording a Progressive Rock album. You heard me. He's working with Vince Gill (I don't get that one, either), Mick Jones, and Steve Vai. "Ponder the Mystery" is the title of his upcoming concept album. I'm still pondering the concept. Maybe Captain Kirk is right. Maybe history is just stuff we should keep on doing over and over regardless of how it turned out the last time. Therefore, I've decided to slam my bike into the back of a Volkswagen in an attempt to shift my molecules out of phase and escape injury. In addition, I will kick yellow jacket nests, audition for a hair band, cheer for the Cubs, and take up gymnastics. Anything else, would be logical.

Already I somehow find this more appealing than most new music today. I'm just trying to imagine what kind of wardrobe he has in mind.
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

that's what happens when you have money..... you think you can be a rock star so you record an album, when that album fails miserably, you do more TV commercials and make more money while your ego heals, then you convince yourself that you need to do another album, this time with better players, and so you hire Vince Gill, Mick Jones, and Steve Vai....and head to the studio..... anybody wanna bet on the odds here? ...and history repeats itself.

Kinda reminds me of when Pat Boone released "In A Metal Mood". I still have nightmares about him singing Dio's "Holy Diver".

In other news, Steve Vai has just entered the Witness Protection Program. When asked for a comment his former agent replied, "I told Shatner to keep Steve's name out of this. Bill!!!" (shakes his fist in the air)

Shatner was perfect for the role of Kirk. I didn't watch that lawyer show he was on except a couple of times (character name Denny Crane) and he was perfect for that role. but there should be a law against him cutting another record (or recording mp3's for you young folks!). not against everyone - just HIM. If I were Elton John I'd probably have had him killed. or at least his vocal cords removed.
