'Show Velocity' In PRV Persists In Every New Project - X1b

...this is the single thing that makes me crazy with X1(a)(b). If I open an instance of the PRV and enter a note it ALWAYS defaults to showing velocity even if Notes>Show Velocity isn't checked. Screen Sets wont retain the setting and every time I have to either uncheck the box or check the box then uncheck the box for the velocity to not show. This was submitted to Cakewalk with a nice submitted to development letter in return but it still seems to persist at least on my machine.

Can anyone else duplicate this and of not ow do you get show velocity to turn off - and stay off?

Wow, it persists within the same project. In other words if I turn off Show Velocity then close the PRV then open the PRV I get the same velocity tails whereby I have to go back in and turn the Show Velocity  on then back off again. Am I the only one seeing this? Or do most people open the PRV with the controller pane open as well?

Thank you HumbleNoise, then at least I'm not alone. This disturbs me tremendously too. It was one of the first problem reports I submitted.

What's worse is that the act of showing/hiding velocity automaticly also displays all hidden controller data on the selected track. For me, a film composer mainly working with orchestral libraries, this becomes a nightmare. I have too many midi tracks with too much controller data, so it's vitally important to be able to hide the data I don't need to see at any given time. Else the screen would be very cluttered.

So it doesn't help that every time I open the piano-roll I have to click show velocity, not one, but two times, and every time I click show velocity all my controllers pops up. And every time I need to add a track to the piano-roll, both velocity and controllers pops back up. And I have to be careful to hide velocity before I hide the controllers, or else the controllers will only pop back up again once I try to hide velocity.  It seems to me that I'm spending most of my time trying to hide away all the different data I don't want to see, and Sonar is constantly putting it back on. It's such a stupid and frustrating problem to be having. I can't imagine Cubase-users having to deal with this kind of problems.

The “workaround” for me is to use one controller pane which I have dragged all the way down so it's just barely visible. That is the way it stays when I'm only editing notes, so then at least I don't have to see it, and when I need to edit controllers I just have to deal with it's idiosyncrasies. Also, I keep the PRV open at all times in the multidock with all instruments loaded, so I don't have to deal with all that work every time I need to add or remove a track. It becomes one long and somewhat unmanageable track list at the right hand side, but it's better than the alternative.

I always use the controller panes.  I find it much easier to work that way.

I don't know if what you found is a general bug or not, but you might want to try working the other way in the meanwhile, Larry.

One issue I've seen through X1-A-B is that the PRV doesn't always center the notes --- meaning, sometimes they show up way up top, sometimes not - sometimes just right.   Maddening ;)

Yeah it's a general bug, was reported and confirmed, just a low priority for X1b apparently. It's not so bad having the controller pane visible with every instance of the PRV BUT if you minimize the controller pane it will NOT stay minimized with a saved or locked Screen Set.

Eventually I like to work in the controller pane but would like the option to not HAVE to work with it open.

Have not seen the non-centering note issue you mentioned Billy.
