Thank you HumbleNoise, then at least I'm not alone. This disturbs me tremendously too. It was one of the first problem reports I submitted.
What's worse is that the act of showing/hiding velocity automaticly also displays all hidden controller data on the selected track. For me, a film composer mainly working with orchestral libraries, this becomes a nightmare. I have too many midi tracks with too much controller data, so it's vitally important to be able to hide the data I don't need to see at any given time. Else the screen would be very cluttered.
So it doesn't help that every time I open the piano-roll I have to click show velocity, not one, but two times, and every time I click show velocity all my controllers pops up. And every time I need to add a track to the piano-roll, both velocity and controllers pops back up. And I have to be careful to hide velocity before I hide the controllers, or else the controllers will only pop back up again once I try to hide velocity. It seems to me that I'm spending most of my time trying to hide away all the different data I don't want to see, and Sonar is constantly putting it back on. It's such a stupid and frustrating problem to be having. I can't imagine Cubase-users having to deal with this kind of problems.
The “workaround” for me is to use one controller pane which I have dragged all the way down so it's just barely visible. That is the way it stays when I'm only editing notes, so then at least I don't have to see it, and when I need to edit controllers I just have to deal with it's idiosyncrasies. Also, I keep the PRV open at all times in the multidock with all instruments loaded, so I don't have to deal with all that work every time I need to add or remove a track. It becomes one long and somewhat unmanageable track list at the right hand side, but it's better than the alternative.
