Side Chain Question

Hi,

Anyone know if it's possible to do side chaining in MC4?  Cakewalk FX Compressor/Gate has a side chain button.  I insert it on a synth track, and on a separate kick drum track insert a send.  But the only options that appear for the send are the Master Bus and effects buses - no mention of the Cakewalk FX Compressor/Gate.  I know side chaining is possible in Sonar, but perhaps it's not in MC4?

It seemed there was nothing but love and beauty everything; fragrant summer air and the laughter of happy birds. Everything

listened to the singing larks in brooding thoughtlessness. Yea,even the horned snails lay stretched out on grey stones with

    their houses on their backs.

    jayrmac - ignore the spammer,
I have not tried sidechaining in MC, but it should be entirely possible as long as the FX are capable of it.  I don't have MC4, however, so I can't try to reproduce what you're working on.  the problem may be that the compressor/gate isn't written so that the correct parameters can be used in sidechaining.

Thanks Beagle, I appreciate the reply. What you say about the plug in not supporting sidechaining is probably right. Still ... it makes me wonder. I have another compressor with a section on the GUI devoted to sidechaining (Martin Eastwood CompressiveCM), but can't get that to work either.

In case anyone else reads this thread: Has anyone used sidechaining in either MC4 or MC5 with any plug in at all?

A yes answer would exonate Music Creator - and set me on the path for a decent compressor!
