Side Chaining
Hello... I was wondering if anyone can explain how to do side chaining in Sonar X1? I want to use say a kick or hi hat to effect a synth. How can I do this? I want to create a shutter effect... thanks!

Thanks guys... I did see these videos already but for some reason I get lost in the steps and it doesn't work? I want to use the Sontis Gate to achieve this effect. Anyone that can help break this down?

That video is a bit out of date and was made in Sonar X1a. Since X1b you no longer need to switch off the 64bit mix engine in any of the demonstrated plugins.

Yah but sidechaining is actually quite easy in SONAR, what do you need broken down? You have your track, you put the gate on it. Then you make a trigger track with whatever you fancy, it's just to key the gate (I'm a fan of Session Drummer with a hi-hat sound myself). Make your gate pattern and go into the gate and tell it to "listen" to the trigger track for its marching orders.
