Sidechaining compression in Sonar Platinum

I have the kick drum and bass guitar issue going on right now and thought I would use sidechain compression to bring out the kick drum more. The Cakewalk Table of Contents indicates that the PC4K S type Bus compressor can be used to do this but only in Sonar Producer. But I have been able to put the PC4K on the tracks (and buses) and the switch for sidechaining - I can enable it. However, I am still having issues getting the kick to come through over the bass guitar.
The kick drum is from Addictive Drums 2, the bass guitar is a 5 string Ibanez and the song uses the low B string (as the key is B flat minor).
My question is what the heck am I doing wrong that I cannot get the kick drum to come through over the bass guitar using sidechaining compression?
I followed this youtube video when setting it up:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tkWeQR4UJf0

I have floated through all of the compressor settings and cannot tell the difference.

My project has the kick drum on its own track (output routed to the Drum Bus) and the bass guitar on its own track (output routed to the Bass Guitar bus).

Will you guys help out this old fart? Can you walk me through setting up sidechaining compression for the purpose of having the bass guitar "duck" and the kick drum to come through when they are played together?
Dumb it down for me - like I know nothing about Sonar (because it is probably something so simple that I passed over it).
I followed the youtube video link (it has the bass/kick scenario in the video) but still - I can't hear a change. Yes, the song is a heavier rock song and I am looking for that punchy kick drum sound - which I have on the EQ already.

Even though this is Sonar 7, the techniques still apply:

Another thing you might want to try to make room for Kick and Bass is through making EQ Holes...

    This actually mentions both:

    Hope these links somehow help

Thanks for the links! I have went through them and made sure I was doing everything the same - still the same results. Maybe it is the EQ - I will try the carving techniques mentioned and see what happens.

Just for clarification, are you inserting a send from the kick track to the compressor on the bass track?

Yes, Sonar Platinum with the prochannels (which are sweet), on the bass track (not the bass bus) I swap the default compressor for the PC4K compressor.
Then I go to the kick drum track (not the drum bus), click on the plus symbol on the Sends and choose the PC4K on the drop down menu. Also prefader on the kick drum sends.
Maybe I just have them EQ'd too similar or something (not at my PC right now or I would check).
Has to be user error on something simple because I have followed several tutorials and the Cakewalk documentation and still not getting the results.

Have you tried changing the HPF beside the SC? Does the meter on the comp move at any of the settings you've tried?

Yep, I tried turning the HPF filter knob all the different "o'clock" settings. The meter does move on the comp so it is doing something. As soon as I finish work today I am going to check if I have the EQ's set up similar just in case I made that rookie mistake. Funny part is - the toms - with no comp and little EQ they are smoking fat (all from Addictive Drums 2).
I just thought, maybe I forgot to click on something or maybe it was supposed to be on the buses and not the tracks - because usually it's something simple that I miss.
Just silly that I am not getting it!
