Sidechaning ONLY the kick drum?

Hello Everyone,

I have a question in regards to side-chaining only the kick drum.  Unfortunately I have a drum track already mixed down with percussion, snares, cymbs, etc....   I can no longer seperate the kick drum alone to use as a side-chain.  I was wondering if there is anyway to only use the low frequencies in a track to side chain to?

I notice the HPF red dial in the PC4k-s compressor, but not sure really what that does.  If anyone can help me out that would be great.

Thank You in advance!

Adam

Try adding a send to the drum track, add R-Mix (or whatever filters you want) to the bus and use the bus output for the side-chain

Are your drums quantised? If so then just make a new midi kick drum track which matches your current kick drum beats. Kill the volume of the new kick drum track but use it as the track you send to the sidechain
