Signs of decay already showing
I was in the middle of making a new song when Sonar froze on me. Asked if I wanted to wait or close. I decided to wait another ten minutes. Then I had to close the session and lost all my new material. I'm asking the Bakers to fix this.

You're better off "fixing" your tendency to work for significant periods without saving! You're going to get a crash like that every now and then, and even if the Cakewalk crew were still around to look into it, it's no guarantee that they'd get to the bottom of it. After having lost hours of work once, I'm now fastidious about saving. I hit CTRL-S after every 2 or 3 edits, even if it's just renaming a track.

I narrowed crashes down to one of 3 things. 1- The network was on and Windows butted in. 2- I was using a 32 bit Plug in 3- I had not saved for 20 minutes Solutions: 1- I try to remember to disable my network adaptor but there is times I need it on as I'm using One Drive to share CWP between my Studio and my Downstairs DAW. ( midi only projects) 2- I have eleiminated all 32bit VST's. 3- I TRY and save after every change I make. Setting it to auto save is one solution but I hate the way the folder ends up with all those copies. I've only had one crash since a month ago and only on the Studio DAW. My downstairs DAW has yet to ever crash which leads me to still believe it's system related so I'm upgrading my Power Supply and a new SSD C Drive.

Auto-save has saved (pun intended) my butt more than once.

CTRL- S. Let your fingers learn that one and never forget them again - no matter what DAW you use. And it could have been a 3d Party plug - more likely actually.

You should check your audio folder there may be a chance there's some of the wave files in there. I haven't used auto-save for a while, on my old PC it used interrupt if in the middle of recordings, but tried to remember to put in on while editing, more so now after being burned a few times I try and remember to manually save often, and save mix scenes. Cheers
