Silent All These Years, Just piano and vocals

I’m going to post this one just to prove we don’t just play old jazz standards and choral numbers. This was recorded in 2001. It was recorded to showcase Jenny’s voice but you can still hear my vocal over the bridge which is actually the main vocal line, it was deliberately mixed low so as to not impinge on the feel that Jenny was creating. I think if I was to mix it again I would bring my vocal up a touch more to make it more legible. Unfortunately the original recordings were lost in the “Black Saturday” fires here in Victoria so a remix is not possible, but maybe a rerecording is an option. The piano is me, but Jenny sometimes plays it herself when we play live. The songs we recorded during this period were some of the first work we did as a duo so maybe some of that innocence is lost and it wouldn’t sound the same, but who knows.
Apologies to Tori Amos, I will take it down if any are offended.

That was just beautiful.  You are both lovely and sensitive and caring.  Hug each other and be happy about this work.
Do a new song for us as well.

Thanks Rimshot, . We have several in the works at the moment and I will post as soon as I get them to a passable level. Even better, we are working on quite a few of Jennifer's originals.
It has been over ten years since our first album and we are swamped with requests for a second. Jenny has a chronic illness and we have to work around that, but it will happen.

I hear what you are talking about your vocals, way in the background and they are lost, but the good part is the rest of the song is just great and the mix on the piano and Jenny's vocals were great. You could try to dub new vocal from you into the mix, but it would have to land perfectly over the old ones or be super close. Nice song though silent no more!

Tori Amos is one of my favourite artists, and this song is among her best. Superb version, just beautifully done.

I'm delighted to hear someone cover a Tori Amos song as she is quite a virtuoso performer.  You did her proud with this, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks for the listen everyone, there is some reverb over the vocals which is a little obvious at times. Apart from that, there's just a bit of EQ and compression. There is a very slight amount of ducking of the piano when the vocals are present.

Sounds crystal clear.  I'd of panned your vox outta the way of the lead if I had a choice.

Great voice! Look forward to hearing more.

You two distilled the essence of the song to its basics. I can't imagine anyone being offended, great job to you both!

I hope you can still work with her.  Beautiful voice.  Clean, powerful production.  I love female vocalists and this one is a gem.  Nice work by both of you.  However you recorded the vocals, they are crystal clear.  Nice!
