Silent Bouncy Night

Someone is looking for 'unique and awesome' versions of Silent Night.  I'm not convinced this is even in the ballpark.  I'm open for suggestions...even to possibly take up a new hobby...

Not my favorite Prarie Breeze piece... It's the Captain and Tenile do Silent Night meets "Love will keep us together." :-(

Well if they are after a Honky Tonk burbon version of Silent Night you've hit the nail on the head.

I can see myself walking into the OK Carole and hearing this playing.

I don't know what to say about this, nice playing.

    Peace Ben

Hi Jeanette, sounds like "Sesame street" to me, so if that was what you're aiming for..... ?  Maybe a boogie-woogie left hand would make it swing a bit more, it sounds a bit stiff, sorry ; )

I like it... it's a left brain/right brain thang... can you play "Yankee Doodle" & "Dixie" at the same time?

Not my favorite either, Robby.  They thought my Christmas songs were too old-fashioned, but I like them better.  Oh well.

Thanks Ben.  I don't think any of us know what they're after...just unique and awesome.  Pretty sure this doesn't hit either mark, but it's one of the ideas that popped into my head.

Thanks Rik.  Good to see you again!  Yeah, after I listened last night that left hand was getting boring to me.  Not sure if I wanna go ahead and change it or just dump it.

Thanks Frank.  I can't play anything at the same time!  :)

Not quite so unique, I've heard a similar version before.

    I like it!

Old fashioned Christmas songs are that way for a reason :-) There are "timeless classics" which will be enjoyed (hopefully) hundreds of years from now, God willing. Come all ye Faithful, the carol of the bells, Silent Night, Angels we have heard on high? I hope they are all still performed and enjoyed for many hundreds of years to come.

Yeah, I guess I never could do unique, Beag.  Oh well.  What I'm looking for is...does it need drums?  More variation?  Go back to watering plants?  You know....that sort of stuff.  :)

Thanks John.  I was going for different.

    I know Robby...but they don't want traditional...

That's a world record.  That's the earliest I've heard Christmas music, yet.  On the other hand, it does bounce, and it has a honky-tonk feel.  Janet, this is an iconic song, and you've given it an iconic twist.  Congratulations for thinking outside of the box.

We need to have another talk about posting Christmas music in June m'lady. . Cool Scott Joplin take on this classic. Great chops as always.

Interesting one Janet..I can't say it does anything for me, it's a bit too 'Bobby Crush' for a Christmas tune, but your playing is excellent as always.

    Scott...I know...weird, huh? :)

Thanks Lynn.  Actually, I think I may have set the world record...the first song I posted here was a Christmas song...a week after Christmas.  :)

Thanks Shad.  Yeah, it was certainly the last thing on my mind until the company wanted Christmas music!  lol

    Right, Dave. :)

Thanks James.  Not my favorite either.  Had to dig a little deeper for this one.  :)

nice try... but it sounds too stiff to me....

comparing it to the Captain and Teneil.... harsh but fair.

I like the other version better.

Got me baffled. Only thing that came to mind was a Jerry Lee "Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On" type Silent Night. ?? Otherwise it is bouncy, that it is!

Yes Rik, it's bouncy. Thanks again for the idea.  Didn't take long to change.

    S. Alf--yeah, I'm baffled too.  Glad you got the bouncy part though.  :)

    This is awesome Janet!

I wanted to grab my new guitar and do a Johnny B. Goode style lead on it.

This is better than the other slow version you posted in my opinion, but the other one seems more appropriate. I guess it just depends on what the person who requested it is going to use it for.

    You're welcome neighbor.

Did I mention I'm moving to MO in a couple months? My wife is moving there next week, I'm staying behind until I get the house sold.

I hope the internets are faster down there! :)

Sorry for the delay, we had a storm go through and this wireless thingy I'm on went dead for a bit.

I'm not sure yet where we're moving. My wife took over a lease on an apartment in Overland Park and the lease is up in November, but we're going to buy a place somewhere south of KC. We have a very limited amount of time, but it is a buyers market right now. 10 acre parcels with huge houses for less than 180k. That's unbelievable.
