Simian Girl by The Forum Monkeys - updated mix

The Forum Monkeys have cajoled (possibly with bananas) both Quantumeffect (Dave) and StreveStrummerUK (Straummy) to join up for this classic Kneel Jung song.

Jaw Harp Solo - Daryl
Drums and Hand Claps - Dave
Bass - Straummy
Final Guitar Riff - Robert K. (from a previous live recording)

Guitars, Vocals & Production - Bapu

Simian Girl <---- Soundcloud Link

Lyrics:

I wanna live
with a simian girl
I could be happy
the rest of my life
With a simian girl.

A dreamer of monkeys
I run in the night
You'll see me as apeman,
chasing the moonlight,
With my simian girl.

All the bananas,
have safely been stowed
The apeman relaxes
and stares at the load
With his simian girl.

A dreamer of monkeys
He runs in the night
You see him as apeman,
chasing the moonlight,
With his Simian girl.

And I have a monkey now
I'm gonna make it somehow
Don't need another chance
You'll see my monkey loves to dance
Yeah...yeah...yeah.

Weird lyrics but I love the song - the idea and the execution.

A classic tune for sure, but the dissonance between the vocals made it such that I had to stop it just a bit in to the 1st verse :-( Would have liked to have heard the lead guitars.

    Yeah, I get that Robby.

Admittedly, not one of my better vocal attempts.

Let's just say I was trying to channel old Kneel as if he was on a bender with cotton in his mouth and and ear infection.

You know, a typical Kneel Jung live performance.

I understand, I wasn't trying to comment on the vocal performance? As I know it was a parody/spoof.

If it was one part? I could have listened and gotten by it? But multiple parts together, when out of tune enough? Have a certain effect :-( You can do wonders w/vvocal and or melodyne? and or autotune? And it doesn't take a lot of time?

yeah the re-mix is better, and the vocals gel nicely in a few places. Interesting a song about dancing and and living with a monkey? I think I'm going to write a song about spanking a monkey.

I really do enjoy making up these "Weird Al" versions of lyrics. And just remember, it's all Daryl's fault.

Well that blew chunks. But, there would be no way to actually make me say anything different as I cannot stand Neil Young. Sure, he is Canadian like me, sure his last name is Young like me... but he sucks - three chord wonder with stupid lyrics (yours are better) and flat vocals. How you describe his live performances is how I describe all of his performances. I do not fully comprehend his popularity. I suppose its a generational thing, and not being one to climb on bandwagons, I am not at all in awe of the past. I think the new Avatar is great by the way.

This is EXCELLENT musically. I'd love to hear it with the original lyrics. Performance and mix is excellent.
