Similarity to Garageband

I was curious how similar MC or MC Pro is to Garageband. I tried to get this information by searching the forum, but could not find much.

A friend showed me Garageband and I was impressed. I remember

- A virtual keyboard
- lots of instruments (pianos, percussion, guitar, orchestral)

I would enjoy something like that-- but for Windows -- to while away any insomnia-ridden nights. I don't have a musical instrument (although I plan to soon own a keyboard with MIDI), so I like the idea of the software having a virtual keyboard (or a notational system) and lots of virtual instruments.

Is MC like that in anyway? How about MC Pro? I don't expect anything to be exactly like Garageband, just looking for something in the ballpark.

I would pay extra for Pro if it is more Garageband-like.

Garageband is a different animal, and only runs on a Mac. It is a Loop based program that has built in looped samples to use to make music tracks. Cakewalk is a full featured multitrack recording studio, it has a different GUI and approach, but will do the same things.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!
