Simple Instrument Track - Limitations?

I'll throw my 2 cents in - I can't speak to any actual limitation of a Simple Instrument Track, because I haven't used that enough to have a super informed opinion.  I have seen people posting how they use them, but end up splitting the view back to the Old School one for various reasons.

I just know that I tried a couple of times and didn't care for it.  I like to see me MIDI, and see me Audio.  I know what I'm doing.  It makes sense.  And I don't worry about taking up screen real estate because I make judicious use of the Track Manager, hiding tracks I don't want to see or don't need to see anymore.

And so on.

What are the limitations of using Simple Instrument Tracks?

I asked a similar question shortly after X1 product was released.  In the early days of simple instrument tracks, a number of veterans here were advising to avoid them.  My question got some expert reponses including one from Scott Garrigus (sp?), the Sonar Power author, that the early limitations were largely corrected in X1.  Since you're not asking this on the X1 forum, and you're still on 8.n, then you don't have the added features, so maybe you do want to avoid them.
