Nothing in my life is simple....but I manage to enjoy most every day...by avoiding things that I know will ruin it or at the least make me want to barf. I'm almost 59...when you get there you will understand, if you don't.

Ok....I guess pattin my dogs head, talking to plants while I water them, hugging and kissing the ones the ones I love, reading a good book and all the simple little things that probably everybody else appreciates. I really didn't expect simple to mean "simple" but I guess it does. Whistling, humming a catchy tune, scratching an itch, having an itch I can't reach scratched for me, a good yawn in a freshly made bed and my favorite music playing me off to sleep, a nice cool beer after working up a sweat in the yard, watching pretty girls....do about anything, doing a setup on a guitar-no not the exercise kind...turning on my computer and it turns on and works!...getting a phone call from a close friend, calling a close friend, shop at Amazon for music and movies, check out guitar building tools on-line, watching youtube videos about building guitars, pick my nose when it needs it, tickle my wife until she gets pissed, a nice shower, taking a dump and it doesn't stink and easy to wipe, a nice hot cup of coffee, playing a guitar- whether I've played it before or not, just walking through a music store and checking out equipment, getting a physical and the doc says you lucky devil, knowing my grand daughter is happy, knowing that I don't have to make payments on a damn thing- that one really makes me smile...and happy...and gives me much pleasure....I give up. The list is just so long....

I'm trying to convince folks here of the benefits of a short nap. I think about eight or nine hours per day should do the trick. So far, management remains unconvinced.

I've said it here before. Getting home in the evening, and sitting down in the studio with a guitar. My yellow lab Elvis lays down at my feet and I look out the studio door into the kitchen and my wife is making dinner. She'll looks my way and gives me a sweet smile. Life is good my friends and all is well in my world. Randy

Spacey,
I enjoyed the amount of thought you put into what you wrote, it was very deep, but in a simple kind of way. I particularly got a very big chuckle out of these two lines:
1. taking a dump and it doesn't stink and easy to wipe. 2. Watching pretty girls .........do just about anything.
Which takes me to one of my simple pleasures....having a sincere good laugh with friends.

Just after I come home in the evening, and I've let the dogs out for their romp and "toilet"...pardon my French...we come in and I sit in my chair and Bus, our boxer, lays down on his bed at my feet and Pip, our Boston Terrier, lays down in my lap while I check my email, the weather and the forum on my iPad. I sometimes think I could, like the movie Groundhog Day, relive those twenty or thirty minutes over and over again...forever.

It's amazing to me all of the similar simple things many share, but some are quite different too. In my case I "adopted" a dog and when I come home usually about 20 minutes after I'm there the dog scratches on the back glass door and so I go over and give her a snack. If I have extra ham or a turkey carcass left over the dog will get it. I don't know why it's fun but it is and the dog eats well. I like waking up in the morning and knowing that there's no hurry to be anywhere...that doesn't happen very often in my world. I like a hot bath and a good book at the same time. I learned how to control the tub valves with my feet so I don't need to get up to add water. It takes about an hour for the water to get too cold for me to stay in it.I can stay in longer if I let water out and add more. I like coffee in the morning and I like looking at women too, I learned though that the more you do it the worse things can get. I like a glass of beer or wine every now and then. Of course I love spending good quality time with my wife. I love it when my grand daughter comes over. I like to eat...sometimes too much. Looking out the window to see what the weather is night or day. I like days off of work. Love to play in my studio with no particular objective and then something comes from it. I would love a good nap but I can never fall asleep when I'm tired unless it's really late. Sitting on the porch or in the back yard in the summer and no one or nothing is bothering me or asking me a question.I like it when the world doesn't need me for awhile. I come full circle...it's leave me alone, and then where is everybody? I like the CH. You guys are alright. Spacey I like a good poo in the loo too but all I seem to have are short explosions. Sometimes I simply like not thinking and just being. Call it the dumb zone I guess.

Smoking a cigar, sipping single malt, eating chocolates and watching a good movie or concert footage. So, this means I must struggle every day not to allow myself the small pleasures. I'm really, really lousy at pleasures, small or big, but I suffer very fluently. I'm not good at living.
