Simple controller for plugins and pro-channel?

I've used a slew of controllers over the years that try and cram as much as possible into the box. The Behringer BCx units in particular. I've got my keyboard controller sussed out, I'm thinking about a simple, small unit just to assign controls to for quick and simple hands-on adjustment. I've tried a Novation unit but don't really like Automap and how it works. Also, I've had pretty bad luck getting ACT working properly, so I'm hoping for something that I can just MIDI Learn on a case-by-base basis. 
 
Any suggestions?
