Simple question for Sonar 6/Sound card issue with iTunes

Hi all,

Have an easy problem with an older version of Sonar...I simply want an audio track to record a file as it plays in iTunes. Used to be able to do it, but now trying every audio setting on my card and within Sonar and can not get the audio track to recognize it. Beyond annoying.

My soundcard is your basic M-Audio Audiophile 24/96. Can someone set a dunce straight?

Thanks,
Bob

To do that, you have to route the audio out of the soundcard back into the audio input of the soundcard. Most websites don't want you to record streaming audio due to copyright issues, but it can be done.

On the off chance, is the file your playing in iTunes an MP3 file? If so find it's folder location and drag and drop it into Sonar. If not you have to either do as Dave says or if your sound cards software supports it, there is often a "what you hear" option for input recording. Look in the sound cards GUI mixer if it has one.
